Daughter of legendary movie director Stanley Kubrick says he would have supported Trump
The daughter of legendary film director Stanley Kubrick, known for movies like Dr. Strangelove and The Shining, is claiming her father would have supported Donald Trump.
In a post on X, Vivian Kubrick said she is "confident" her father would agree with Trump's criticism of the modern military.
Kubrick's daughter defends Trump
Vivian Kubrick shared the shocking comments after Trump used clips from her dad's Vietnam movie, Full Metal Jacket, in a campaign video mocking the "woke" takeover of the armed forces.
The video includes clips of the infamously brutal character portrayed by real-life drill instructor R. Lee Ermey.
Actor Matthew Modine, who played Private Joker in the movie, told Entertainment Weekly that Trump had "distorted Kubrick's powerful anti-war film into a perverse, homophobic, and manipulative tool of propaganda."
In a post defending Trump from critics, Vivian Kubrick said she is "very confident" her father would support Trump, noting the former president is "always seeking to end wars and use peaceful methods."
Vivian said her father would have no objection to Trump using her father's "anti-war" movie to advocate for a strong military, despite the "incongruous" message.
“My father had a great respect for life – his movies being unimpeachable evidence of his love for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness! So on that basis, I feel very confident he would be a Trump supporter and would forgive using FMJ incongruously, if it helps the cause of freedom!” she wrote.

"Trump has my blessing"
Stanley Kubrick was born in New York but lived most of his life in England, where he died in 1999 at the age of 70. Several of his movies are about war, including Full Metal Jacket, the World War I drama Paths of Glory and the dark comedy Dr. Strangelove, which satirizes nuclear conflict.
On the campaign trail, Trump has frequently invoked the specter of World War III while criticizing U.S. foreign policy on the Ukraine war.
While little is known about Kubrick's political views, his daughter argued that he would agree with Trump's opposition to "globalist forces" and his criticism of a weak and "demoralized" United States.
“Truthfully, I believe my father (who supported [President Ronald] Reagan), would very much approve of saving America, indeed the world, from the highly destructive Globalist forces threatening to take over this planet,” she added.
“And if that footage from FMJ helps Trump make the point that the US military needs properly trained, super tough, focused, dedicated warriors, and not introduce the demoralizing effects of woke-ism, and attracting people to join up simply to have their sexual reassignments paid for, then Trump has my blessing."
