DCN chair claims voters have forgiven Virginia AG candidate Jay Jones

Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Ken Martin is already trying to claim that voters have forgiven state attorney general candidate Jay Jones for his disturbing conduct.

Breitbart News, however, reports that polls are saying otherwise.

Considering some of the things that we have learned about Jones in recent weeks, it is hard to believe that his campaign is still up and running. For example:

All's forgiven?

This, as stated, is what Martin is trying to claim. He said as much during a recent interview with Politico.

"I believe that most Virginians have accepted that apology and that they’ll elect Jay Jones as the next attorney general," Martin claimed.

The whole scandal began with the leak of some disturbing text messages from Jones. The Daily Caller reported:

Jones, a former Virginia state delegate, told Republican House Delegate Carrie Coyner that he would give former Republican Virginia House Speaker Todd Gilbert “two bullets to the head” and urinate on his grave...

Jones subsequently faced many calls to resign, and some of these calls did come from the Democrats.

Jones, however, has refused to resign. Instead, he tried to weather the storm by apologizing, saying such things as "I am embarrassed, ashamed, and sorry."

The polls say...

Breitbart, in its report, demonstrates that recent polling does not support Martin's assessment of the situation.

Per the outlet:

A poll released this week by the Trafalgar Group showed a drop in support for the Democratic candidate, with Jones now having the support of only 43 percent of voters, down from nearly 49 percent earlier in the month, according to the Hill. In turn, his Republican opponent, Jason Miyares, received a major boost, with support growing nearly four percent, from 45 percent to 48.9 percent.

There's more.

Breitbart goes on to add:

Newsweek reported this week that Jones’s chance of winning had plummeted in betting odds sites, which can often predict outcomes. According to the news magazine: Jones held a 53 percent chance of winning in Polymarket’s odds as of October 7, but that has steadily dropped since. On Thursday, Miyares had a 68 percent chance of winning, while Jones had roughly a 33 percent chance of winning.

We'll have to see who is right: Martin or the polls.
