Defamation suit filed against Hunter Biden dismissed by judge

Hunter Biden has had no shortage of legal problems in recent months, including convictions for gun crimes and federal tax charges.

However, the president's son did manage to catch a break this past week when a lawsuit that had been filed against him was dismissed.

Computer shop owner took possession of Biden's laptop in 2019

According to the Associated Press, Delaware Superior Court Judge Robert Robinson Jr. rejected a defamation case brought by computer repair shop owner John Paul Mac Isaac.

Isaac first came into contact with Biden in 2019 when the president's son dropped off a laptop which he never bothered to pick up.

The device was found to contain evidence of criminal conduct, including drug use, illegal gun possession, as well as emails detailing Biden's business arrangements with foreign elements.

That information was first publicized by the New York Post in the fall of 2020 and became a major issue in the election contest between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.

Laptop's authenticity was later verified by mainstream media outlets

Although the laptop's authenticity would later be verified by mainstream media outlets, 51 former intelligence officials initially signed an open letter stating that the story bore "the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation."

In his lawsuit, Isaac alleged that the president's son had defamed him by suggesting he had either stolen the laptop or was participating in a Russian conspiracy.

Yet Biden's defense legal team argued that their client could not be held liable for defamation as he never identified the plaintiff by name.

Issac is being represented by lawyer Ronald Poliquin, who told the Associated Press that Robinson's dismissal order will be appealed.

Claims against CNN, Politico, and Joe Biden's campaign committee also thrown out

"Hunter Biden went on national TV and gaslighted the American public by indicating John Paul Mac Isaac was part of a Russian hoax when he knew it to be false," Poliquin was quoted as saying.

"As the FBI has confirmed, Biden dropped off his laptop at the Mac Shop. Hunter Biden lied and needs to be held accountable," the attorney went on to add.

In addition to dismissing the claim against Biden, Robinson went on to dismiss similar claims Isaac had brought against CNN, Politico, and Joe Biden's campaign committee.

Meanwhile, the judge also dismissed Biden's counterclaim against Issac for invasion of privacy, ruling that he had taken too long to file it.
