Dem lawmaker pushes for release of any remaining Jeffrey Epstein files

The MAGA world isn't the only group upset with the Trump administration's announcement that there are no lists or extra files related to disgraced and deceased convicted child sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

According to the Daily Caller, some Democrats, including California Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna, are entertaining the idea of using their powers to compel the Trump administration, specifically Attorney General Pam Bondi, to release all additional files related to Epstein's death.

Administration officials, including Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and deputy director Dan Bongino, have all taken fire for insisting that no such conspiracies or files exist, even though all three once called for them to be released prior to taking their jobs.

The situation has caused quite a noticeable rift within the ranks of the MAGA world.

What's going on?

Khanna is now reportedly leading the House effort to force Bondi and the Trump administration to release any other files on Epstein's death, perhaps even taking a vote on the initiative later this week.

The Daily Caller noted:

Axios was first to report the text of Khanna’s amendment. The measure would force Attorney General Pam Bondi “to publish any records or evidence related to any investigation, prosecution or incarceration” of Epstein within 30 days of the amendment’s enactment.

The Democratic rep is capitalizing on the situation, announcing his push to have the records released in an X post this week.

"I just introduced an amendment to demand the release of the Epstein files. Representatives should have to vote tomorrow either to stand with ordinary Americans and release the files or side with the rich and powerful. Whose side are you on?" the California lawmaker wrote.

The Daily Caller noted:

Khanna’s amendment has faced skepticism from some on the right who fear his motives have more to do with political opportunism than uncovering the truth about Epstein. The California Democrat did not file a similar amendment during former President Joe Biden’s term.

Social media reacts

Users across social media had plenty to say about Khanna's push to have the records released.

"Why is no one answering this basic question: Why didn't Biden and Democrats release this during the FOUR YEARS they had a chance to?" one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Ro doesn't have any interest in releasing the Epstein files. If he did he would have pushed for their release when Democrats controlled the House, Senate and presidency."

Only time will tell if Khanna's insistence is genuine and produces results or is all for show.
