The ex-husband of Katie Porter, the former House Democrat who is running to become the next governor of California, is claiming that his ex-wife is a "master manipulator." 

Matthew Hoffman revealed as much to the New York Post. 

This comes as Porter's gubernatorial campaign has been mired with controversy.

Background

In case you missed it, Porter has found herself at the center of a major controversy, stemming from her alleged abuse of people in her professional and personal life. We have gotten a glimpse of her behavior in clips that have been leaked on the internet.

Breitbart News reported:

Obtained by Politico . . .  the video shows Porter speaking with former Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm in July 2021, before she cursed at a staffer for interjecting to correct her on a policy detail. “Get out of my f****** shot!” Porter yelled at the staffer in the video.

It turns out that this is just a drop in the bucket, as several other clips have come to light.

Not only that, but some surprising allegations were made about Porter by her husband during their divorce proceedings.

The Daily Mail reported:

Now, the Daily Mail has reviewed the Iowa-born progressive's divorce papers from March 2013, which paint a picture of allegedly belligerent behavior potentially dating back more than a decade. The legal documents trace her split from Matthew Hoffman and detail how she allegedly frequently screamed at him and their children, and on one occasion even allegedly dumped a bowl of steaming hot boiled potatoes over his head.

Despite all of this, Porter's gubernatorial campaign continues. Now, however, her husband is speaking out.

The Post reports:

Katie Porter is a “master manipulator” who embodies everything wrong with politics today, according to her husband of 10 years. Matthew Hoffman, 50, told The Post the hotheaded liberal contender for California governor is a bad choice to run the deep blue state.

He didn't stop there.

The Post continues:

Referring to video clips that exposed Porter’s volatile temper and hostile treatment of staffers and journalists, he said, “It’s about time” they came out. “The amount of staff she goes through. The horrible things that she says [about others] … those aren’t fabrications,” he warned The Post outside his home in Portland, Oregon.

The big question, of course, is whether any of this will matter to California voters. Time will tell.
