Democrat Rep. Jim Hines: Deaths will result from Gabbard's Russia hoax revelations
Now that the Trump administration is getting to the bottom of the Russia collusion hoax that consumed much of the president’s first term in the White House, Democrats are sounding the alarm about what they claim could be the potential consequences of telling the American people the truth.
Amid news that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has declassified a trove of documents she says establishes the culpability of Obama-era officials in building a false narrative about the 2016 election and after President Donald Trump's declaration likening the conduct to "treason," Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) hyperbolically warned that deaths are sure to follow, as Breitbart reports.
Gabbard makes her case
It was late last week that Gabbard began to roll out a tranche of material alleging that the Obama administration -- including former President Barack Obama himself -- took action to politicize intelligence assessments and to create a narrative about Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election that was known to be false.
This happened, according to Gabbard, in order to undermine -- and perhaps even cripple -- the incoming administration led by Donald Trump.
Gabbard appeared at a Wednesday White House press briefing and doubled down on her conclusions, holding little back in terms of naming names and assigning blame for a pattern of conduct she says represents a scandal of historic proportions.
In Gabbard’s words, the documents and whistleblower recollections she is bringing to the attention of the American people reveal “a gross politicization and manipulation of intelligence by the Obama administration intended to delegitimize President Trump even before he was inaugurated, ultimately usurping the will of the American people.”
As such, Gabbard continued, all relevant information has been passed on to the Justice Department and the FBI for a determination of whether criminal charges are warranted against those involved in the alleged activity, including Obama himself.
Himes weighs in
In the wake of Gabbard’s revelations -- as well as President Donald Trump’s own declaration that when it comes to Obama and claims of treasonous conspiracy, “they have him stone-cold” -- Hines appeared on MSNBC’s Deadline to sound the alarm about what he thinks could unfold next.
Himes stated, “What troubles me most about this is that I’m standing in a spot that on January 6, 2021, was overrun by a violent mob intent on hanging the vice president and killing people like me. And it was all driven by a lie propagated by Donald Trump, and now we’re seeing that playbook again.”
He continued, “And my only question is, when people like Tusi Gabbard and Donald Trump accuse an ex-president of a capital crime that is punishable by death, who is going to die? Who is going to die because they’ve decided they need a distraction away from the Epstein calamity, which they brought upon themselves.”
It was then that host Nicolle Wallace pressed Himes to elaborate on the startling claim that deaths would result from Gabbard’s disclosures.
The lawmaker replied, “Well, again, when you use language like treason, I mean go into my social media feeds because I’ve been trying to tell the truth about this ever since Tulsi put out this staggeringly disprovable and instantly disprovable lie when you start using the kind of language the language of treason and of somebody being a traitor, you know, some tiny percentage of the population is just crazy enough to decide that they need to do something about it.”
Turning up the heat
Speaking on Fox News on Wednesday, Gabbard suggested that additional information pertaining to the allegations has emerged from a “whistleblower who came forward who brought some critical pieces to this story,” which, based on the newly declassified documents, could implicate not just Obama, but also former DNI James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan, former National Security Advisor Susan Rice, former FBI Director James Comey, and more.
Though an Obama spokesperson issued a statement deeming Gabbard’s allegations “nonsense and misinformation” as well as “bizarre,” Clapper, while claiming innocence, revealed on Wednesday that he is indeed concerned about a possible arrest and has already “lawyered up,” and that is a strategy many of those referred to the DOJ may want to consider as well.
