Democratic Boston official indicted in alleged kickback scheme: Report
It feels like an extraordinary number of Democratic politicians are finding themselves in great deals of legal trouble these days.
And some of the alleged crimes being committed are just plain stupid. You'd think some of these people would be a tad bit smarter about what they're doing, but that simply isn't the case.
That was evidenced recently, according to the Daily Caller, with an ultra-liberal Boston official who was arrested by the FBI for an alleged "kickback scheme" that even allegedly involved the official making money transfers in the bathroom of city hall.
The feds arrested Tania Fernandes Anderson on federal corruption charges.
What's going on?
Anderson, who is currently serving her second term as city councilor for Boston’s Seventh District, is facing a mountain of potential legal consequences after her arrest last week.
A Department of Justice statement on the arrest indicated she was indicted on one count of theft "regarding programs receiving federal dollars and five counts of wire fraud."
The Caller noted:
Prosecutors allege that Fernandes Anderson, facing financial challenges last year following a state ethics commission’s decision to fine her $5,000 for violating a conflict of interest law, conspired with an unnamed relative on her staff in an alleged bonus kickback scheme to defraud the city of Boston.
That kickback scheme reportedly involved giving her relative, who happened to be on her staff, a larger-than-normal bonus of $13,000 and the asking for $7,000 of the bonus back to her under the table.
The exchange reportedly happened in a city hall bathroom over the summer of 2023, the DOJ's statement read.

Social media backlash
Many social media uses weighed in on her arrest.
"She is exactly what is wrong with America. She came in as an illegal, somehow got elected to serve her district then stole money from them all the while whining, complaining that she was undervalued as a black women," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "We are going to see a LOT of these kinds of arrests over the next 4 years."
Hopefully, that's the case. It's time to not only drain the swamp, but also deep clean it as well.
