While former President Donald Trump has faced no shortage of attacks from his opponents, the criticism took an odd turn this week.

According to the Daily Caller, Democratic strategist James Carville went after Trump's health by suggesting that he suffers from a sexually transmitted disease.

"What was in those health records?"

Carville made the allegation during a Wednesday appearance on "The Bulwark" podcast, which is hosted by Tim Miller. The Daily Caller noted how at one point Miller asked Carville if he believes Trump has a hitherto undisclosed medical diagnosis.

In response, Carville pointed to a 2018 NBC News story about how medical records were seized from the then-president's former doctor.

"What was in there? What was in those health records? I mean, they're not gonna make [them] public unless, unless you say you want to make them public. Why did they do that?"

"I strongly suspect, just a suspicion and he had those red splotches on his head. Okay, he said his mission during the Vietnam War was to not get the clap or STD or whatever the f--k they call it," Carville stated.

"I don't think he succeeded [at] that, that’s my personal view. I think he even failed at that mission," the longtime Democratic strategist declared.

Carville previously floated "secondary syphilis" in January

For his part, Miller said Carville's theory that the former president has a venereal disease but quickly added that he didn't "want to spread disinformation."

"That's a suspicion of mine and it stokes up what I say about the health record is true [sic]. Maybe it's something else," Carville responded.

This is not the first time Carville has speculated about Trump's health, as Mediaite noted in January that he claimed the former president has "secondary syphilis."

"There’s a story that talks about Trump having hand-cuts, and you can link to it. They don’t look like cuts to me. They look like sores," the website quoted Carville as saying on the Politicon podcast.

"There's a good chance this man has the clap"

"I've asked a number of (medical doctors) what medical condition manifests itself through hand sores. And the answer is immediate and unanimous: Secondary syphilis," Carville asserted.

"All right. I think there's a good chance this man has the clap, and I'm not being particularly secretive about it," he continued.

"Maybe the picture was doctored or whatever. Maybe the story goes somewhere. Maybe it won't. But I'm telling you, at 1:00 Eastern, I'm humping this thing like a young dog on old furniture," the Democratic figure bizarrely added.
