Politics aside, any reasonable, honest person knows without a doubt that Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) mopped the floor with Gov. Tim Walz (D) in the first -- and probably only -- vice presidential debate.

According to the New York Post, Democrats are incredibly disappointed in Walz's performance, with the outlet noting that he made an unfortunate series of "self-inflicted rhetorical wounds" as he struggled to keep pace with Vance.

One Democrat told the outlet that Walz's performance was not unlike President Joe Biden's disastrous debate against former President Donald Trump.

Other Democrats complained in the sense that they would have rather Vice President Kamala Harris chosen Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro as a running mate instead, as they believe he would have gone toe-to-toe with someone as intelligent and eloquent as Vance.

What happened?

One source inside the Democratic Party reportedly opened up about Walz's disappointing debate, which was seen by millions earlier this week on CBS.

"[Harris’] campaign has no message other than ‘I’m not Donald Trump,'" the source reportedly told the outlet, who described Walz as looking "eerily similar to [President] Biden up there."

"She didn’t pick Shapiro as VP because he’s Jewish — a blatant attempt to placate antisemites on the far left," the source added. "Tim Walz is a nice guy, but there’s no way that Josh Shapiro would have gotten schooled that badly by JD Vance."

"The better choice was not picked simply because of his religion," the party insider added. "Simple as that."

Another Democratic insider agreed with the first source, but then diverted the conversation to Harris' debate with Trump.

"Shapiro would have done a better job pushing back on Vance than Walz did," the second source reportedly said. "Regardless, this is all small potatoes compared to the Trump-Harris debate where it was abundantly clear she destroyed him."

"Clearly honest"

The Post noted yet a third "prominent" Democratic source who agreed that Walz did not perform well.

"Walz told the Harris campaign he was a poor debater," the source said. "He was clearly honest about that."

"Sometimes in politics, you gotta know when to fight, and you gotta know when to dance," the third source added. "Tim waltzed most of the night when he shoulda been fighting more."

Walz also took a beating in the mainstream media following the debate, undoubtedly becoming more of a thorn in the side of the Harris campaign.
