The Washington Post is reporting that there is quite the fraction growing within the Democratic party, and most of it centers around how Joe Biden is approaching his bid to win reelection in 2024.
That's because Joe Biden's current plan to just proceed as if it were still 2020 and he was being perceived as a regular candidate is NOT going to work.
Not only is Joe Biden going to be four years older in 2024 than he was in 2020, America has four years of evidence of what happens when Joe Biden is your president.
We don't like it.
"The bad news is that everybody is wetting the bed inside of Biden world," one fundraiser said. "It’s really an unhappy confluence of Biden world donors’ cocktail party friends saying ‘Can’t you get him not to run,’ which is stupid and absurd if you know Joe Biden."
Apparently, the big boppers behind the big dollars that power America's federal Democrats are getting pretty nervous about Joe Biden's insistence that he's the right man for 2024. David Axelrod is a former senior adviser to President Barack Obama. He said that Biden should take his own advice and consider who the alternatives are to run for president in 2024.
"How many times in 2020 did you hear the president say, ‘Don’t compare me to the almighty — compare me to the alternative,’" Axelrod said. "Well, if I were them, I’d say, ‘Let the comparison begin,’ and push it on the contrast in values and policies and results that work for them."
What makes all of this worse is that Donald Trump seems to be surging right now.
If Joe Biden was hoping to have Trump get beaten up throughout the Republican primaries, it's looking increasingly less likely that that's going to happen.
Trump isn't showing up to the debates for other candidates to take shots at him, and it's not hurting him one bit.
For years, there was relatively little proof of the "witch hunt" Trump claimed was happening against him.
