Democrats lead Republicans in latest Fox News congressional poll

A Fox News poll conducted between January 23 and 26 shows Democrats leading Republicans 52% to 46% on the generic congressional ballot, marking the highest result for any party in the poll's history.

The survey of 1,005 registered voters, conducted by Democratic firm Beacon Research and Republican firm Shaw & Company Research, has a margin of error of ±3 percentage points. Democrats hold leads on issues including affordability (14 points), health care (21 points), helping the middle class (14 points), and transgender issues (22 points).

As reported by The New York Post, republicans lead on border security (15 points), national security (12 points), immigration (5 points), and the national deficit (2 points). Recent Democratic victories include a 14-point win in a special election for Texas state Senate District 9, following strong performances in 2025 off-year races in Virginia and New Jersey.

Polling Data Sparks Conservative Concerns

Now, let’s cut through the noise and face the hard truth. These polling numbers are a wake-up call for Republicans, especially with President Trump’s approval among independents underwater by a whopping 40 points, described as a second-term low. The historical trend isn’t kind either—since 1938, the party controlling the White House has lost House seats in nearly every midterm cycle.

Democrats are crowing about their chances, and it’s hard to ignore their bravado. “Democrats are taking back the House in November,” declared Justin Chermol, spokesperson for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. That kind of confidence stings when you see their leads in the RealClearPolitics aggregate at 4.8 points, though it’s less than their 7.3-point edge at this stage in 2018 when they flipped 41 seats.

But let’s not wave the white flag just yet. President Trump isn’t sitting idle; he’s gearing up for a campaign blitz this year to stem potential losses in November. His resolve to turn the tide is something every patriot should rally behind as the left pushes their agenda.

Trump Fights Back Against Midterm Odds

Trump himself has acknowledged the uphill battle, but he’s not backing down. “Presidents, whether it’s Republican or Democrat, when they win, it doesn’t make any difference. They seem to lose the midterms,” he told Fox News’ Will Cain.

His frustration with voter unpredictability is relatable to anyone who’s watched the political pendulum swing. “Maybe [voters] want to put up a guard fence. You just don’t know. It doesn’t make sense,” Trump added.

Yet, his optimism shines through, and it’s a call to action. “Hopefully, we’re going to change that around. We’re doing great,” he insisted. That’s the kind of leadership we need when the stakes are this high.

Financial Gap Poses Republican Advantage

Here’s a silver lining for the GOP—money talks, and Republicans have a lot more of it. Despite the polling deficits, the Republican National Committee boasts $95.1 million cash on hand with no debt, while the Democratic National Committee lags with just $14 million and $17.5 million in debt. That’s a nearly $100 million financial edge for the GOP heading into November.

Democrats might have the poll numbers, but can they buy the airtime to keep their message alive? This cash disparity could be the ace up the GOP’s sleeve if used wisely to counter the left’s narrative on affordability and health care.

Look at the Texas special election win for Democrats—sure, they flipped District 9 by 14 points, but turnout in special races doesn’t mirror midterm dynamics. Compare that to Trump’s 17-point rout in the same district previously, and it’s clear the GOP base can still dominate when motivated.

Issue Battles Define Midterm Landscape

On the issues, Republicans hold ground where it matters most to everyday Americans—border security and national security aren’t just talking points; they’re survival. The left’s obsession with social experiments, like their 22-point lead on transgender issues, distracts from the real threats at our doorstep.

Democrats’ focus on an anti-Trump message and affordability in off-year races might resonate with some, but it’s a shallow playbook. When the dust settles, voters will remember who’s serious about protecting the homeland, not who’s peddling the latest cultural fad.

So, as November approaches, the question looms—will Republicans harness their financial might and core issues to defy history, or will Democrats’ momentum steamroll through? Trump’s campaign push could be the game-changer, but only if the base turns out. It’s time to fight for the America we believe in, not the one the left wants to remake.
