Denials regarding president's involvement in his son's business shift as evidence mounts

For years, President Joe Biden has repeatedly denied having any involvement with his son Hunter's business activities.

Yet as Fox News reported this week, the denials made by Biden and his allies have begun to change as new evidence mounts.

Attorney says Hunter "did not share money from his businesses with his dad"

An example of that could be seen in comments made by Hunter Biden attorney Abbe Lowell during an appearance on CNN this past Thursday.

"I can tell you that [Hunter Biden] did not share money from his businesses with his dad. And as the evidence out there, his dad, like all good parents, tried to help Hunter when Hunter needed that help," Lowell was quoted as saying.

As Fox News noted, that stance is similar to the one offered in a June 29 statement from Ian Sams, who serves as White House counsel’s office spokesperson. He declared, "As we have said many times before, the president was not in business with his son."

Sams' remarks came five days after White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters, "The president was never in business with his son. I just don’t have anything else to add."

Biden previously claimed to have "never discussed" business

However, claims that Biden "was never in business" and didn't "share money" with his son are far more specific than the blanket denials the president used to give.

One example came during a campaign event in 2019 when Biden told reporters, "I have never discussed with my son or my brother or anyone else anything to do with their business."

The shift could be due to the emergence of evidence that father and son were financially intertwined, such as a 2019 text message from Hunter to his daughter that read, "I hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family Fro (sic) 30 years. It's really hard. But don't worry unlike Pop I won't make you give me half your salary."

Email suggests Joe Biden borrowed money from his son

Meanwhile, a 2010 email from longtime Hunter Biden business partner Eric Schwerin explained that he was transferring cash from the then-vice president's tax refund check into his son's account because "he owes it to you."

Devon Archer is another former associate, and earlier this year he recalled to Tucker Carlson how Joe Biden would regularly call into meetings involving his son's other business partners.
