DHS Sec. Noem suggests 'corrupt' FBI responsible for leaked info about impending ICE raids in L.A.

It was recently leaked to the media that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was preparing to conduct in the coming weeks a massive operation in and around Los Angeles, California, to apprehend and deport illegal aliens.

Though it is unclear who leaked the internal ICE memo about the impending raids in L.A., Homeland Security Sec. Kristi Noem pointed an accusatory finger at the "corrupt" FBI" and vowed to find and prosecute the leaker, according to the Daily Caller.

Per the initial media report on the imminent ICE sweep through the populous Southern California metropolis, the FBI was expected to provide assistance and "more bodies" in support of the operation.

Impending ICE raids in L.A. leaked to media

On Friday, the Los Angeles Times reported that it had obtained a leaked internal ICE memo that outlined plans for a "large scale" operation to enforce immigration laws in and around L.A. before the end of the month, primarily focused on illegal aliens with criminal records and pending removal orders, though any illegal migrants encountered by agents would also liable to be apprehended and deported.

Anonymous federal law enforcement sources told the Times that because ICE "needed more bodies" to make the impending raids more effective, agents with the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration had been tasked to provide assistance -- though neither of those two federal law enforcement agencies confirmed those claims when pressed for comment.

Further, one of the sources suggested that the anticipated launch of the L.A. ICE sweep could be rescheduled amid the "chaotic" nature of the Trump administration, if they were ever even scheduled at all and weren't deliberately crafted as a means to catch suspected leakers or identify potential "resistant" agents within the federal ranks.

"Just because certain information is being given doesn’t mean it’s the administration’s plan, because they know some agents are going to be resistant," the unnamed source revealed.

Noem suggests "corrupt" FBI responsible for leak

To be sure, the L.A. Times did not specify from where or whom it obtained the leaked ICE memo, but DHS Sec. Noem appears to have already determined who she believes is responsible -- the FBI.

"The FBI is so corrupt," Noem said in an X post on Sunday that included a link to the Times' story. "We will work with any and every agency to stop leaks and prosecute these crooked deep state agents to the fullest extent of the law."

Unfortunately, per the Daily Caller, this is not the first time that information about impending ICE raids has been leaked to the media beforehand, nor is Noem alone in calling out those leaks and threatening prosecution for those who are responsible.

Border Czar Homan blasted leaks ahead of ICE raids in Colorado

Mediaite reported last week the Border Czar Tom Homan threatened to end media ride-alongs with ICE raids in the interest of "OpSec," or operational security, after media reports about pending raids in Aurora, Colorado, to apprehend approximately 100 Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang members resulted in nearly all of those targeted criminals evading capture.

"It’s all about OpSec, operation security, so we may have to stop the media ride alongs, because I’m not pointing the finger at it, but the less people that know about these operations, the safer this for our agents," he told reporters during a news conference.

Later, during an interview on Fox News, Homan told host Harris Faulkner, "I’m addressing OpSecs today, operation security, how these leaks are happening. We’ve already identified how this operation got leaked. I’ll deal with that today."

He made sure to noted that Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, who tagged along on the Colorado ICE raids, was not part of the problem, but reiterated his concern, "We can’t be having all of these different news outlets out there with us on raids. Bill Melugin, great guy, but we’ve got a lot of OpSec issues we’re dealing with."
