DOGE found another $1.9 billion in taxpayer money 'misplaced' by Biden
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the organization led by Elon Musk and responsible for the elimination of wasteful spending, announced on Friday that it had discovered $1.9 billion that had been misplaced by the Biden administration.
These funds were sourced from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and have been successfully recovered, as Breitbart News reported.
"$1.9 billion of HUD money was just recovered after being misplaced during the Biden administration due to a broken process. These funds were earmarked for the administration of financial services, but were no longer needed," a DOGE post on X stated.
From the Secretary
In order to "fix the issue" and "de-obligate the funds," which are now available for other use by the Treasury, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Scott Turner collaborated with the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources.
Thursday was the day that Turner made the announcement that his agency would be establishing a DOGE task force.
"We will be very detailed and deliberate about every dollar spent in serving tribal, rural and urban communities across America," he said in a video posted on X.
Discovery Details
Turner stated that his team had discovered savings of 260 million dollars just two days previous to the announcement.
It has been determined by DOGE that billions of dollars were spent in questionable ways.
Lee Zeldin, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has announced that he has canceled a grant of fifty million dollars for environmental justice that was awarded during the administration of President Joe Biden to an organization that holds the belief that "climate justice travels through a Free Palestine."
A Canadian electric bus maker received 160 million dollars from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) during the administration of Vice President Joe Biden, according to Zeldin, who made an appearance on "The Story with Martha MacCallum" on Thursday.
The Fallout
According to him, the Biden administration did not make payments along the way as school buses were being manufactured; rather, they gave the entire sum to the manufacturer without any payments being made.
Additionally, he stated that the corporation had filed for bankruptcy in the time since it was given the money.
DOGE has expanded rapidly despite just having been in operation for a month. Over the course of that period, the division systematically overran multiple government agencies.
The division now has the authority to lay off federal employees on a massive scale, thanks to an executive order signed by Donald Trump. It has successfully gotten access to the U.S. Treasury's payment systems. Also, around 2 million federal employees have been given the chance to buyout their jobs.
