Fans of country music legend Dolly Parton became concerned when she announced late last month that she was cancelling some upcoming concerts for unspecified health reasons.

That concern grew immensely on Tuesday when the singer's younger sister urged her fans to lift "all the prayers" on behalf of Parton and her medical issues, according to Fox News.

However, Frieda Parton later attempted to allay the worry and fear her request had sparked with a follow-up post on social media that downplayed the severity of the problems her famous older sister is dealing with.

Parton needs "all the prayers" for her health

"Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly," Frieda Parton posted on Facebook on Tuesday. "Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately."

"I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me," she added. "She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!"

As evidenced by the comments in reply to that post, not to mention the flurry of subsequent media reports about the call for prayers, there was genuine and widespread distress among the fans and supporters of the 79-year-old country star, which Frieda sought to assuage later that evening.

"I want to clear something up," the concerned sister wrote in a follow-up post. "I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly."

"She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer," she clarified. "It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister. Thank you all for lifting her up. Your love truly makes a difference."

Upcoming shows in Vegas postponed

There was a legitimate reason for people to be worried about the status of Dolly Parton's health, as just over a week earlier, ABC News reported that the legendary singer had announced the postponement of her upcoming residency in Las Vegas, Nevada, in December.

"I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts," Parton said in a statement posted to Instagram on September 28. "As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures."

"As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it's not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!" she continued. "In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you."

"While I'll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say," Parton added. "And don't worry about me quittin' the business because God hasn't said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding."

Las Vegas residency was set for December, now rescheduled for next September

According to ABC News, Parton had announced in June that she would perform six concerts in Las Vegas in December, which were scheduled to coincide with the National Finals Rodeo competition, where she was set to perform all her hit songs from her decades-long career.

Per her Instagram post, those shows have now been rescheduled for September 2026, and already-purchased tickets for the original shows will either be honored on the new dates or fully refunded.
