Barron Trump made headlines in May when he graduated from Oxbridge Academy, an exclusive private school in Palm Beach, Florida.

This week saw the 18-year-old's beaming father announce that he has selected a college in New York to attend.

Barron sometimes offers his father political advice

"He's all set in a certain school that’s very good," former President Donald Trump was quoted as telling the the New York Post prior to a campaign stop in Michigan last week.

"He’s always been a very good student, he's smart," Trump continued. While the 45th president said that his son would attend a college in New York, he refused to name the school.

This is far from being the first time that Mr. Trump has spoken publicly about his son, as he also did so during a May interview with Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT.

The former president described Barron as "a good-looking guy" who is "funny." He further noted that his son occasionally offers political advice, saying, "He'll tell me sometimes, 'Dad, this is what you have to do.'"

Former first lady will be in New York with her son

If Barron does attend college in New York City then it appears that he will not be in the city alone, as the Daily Mail cited a source last month who said his mother will join him.

The source indicated that former First Lady Melania Trump is "a hands-on mother" who "is already planning to spend part of every month – and potentially every week – in NYC" regardless of whether her husband wins in November.

Stephanie Grisham served as the former first lady's White House press secretary as well as her chief-of-staff, and she relayed a similar message to the Daily Mail.

"Melania has said, 'I don't need to stand by Donald like Jill Biden; it is like she's holding Joe Biden up,'" Grisham declared.

Kai Trump will play golf at the University of Miami

Barron Trump is not the only member of his extended family to start college this fall as his 17-year-old niece Kai Trump is doing so as well.

According to Fox News, Ms. Trump revealed in a social media post earlier this month that she is planning to play golf for the University of Miami.

"I would like to thank my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don, for always supporting me through my journey. I would also like to thank my great team for getting me to this point," Kai Trump wrote.

"I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support," she continued before adding, "I would also like to thank my entire family for always encouraging and pushing me to be the best person I can possibly be."
