A former star of the classic rock band The Eagles suffered a medical emergency during a performance this week that left his fans stunned and concerned for his well-being.

Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder, 77, had to be supported and hurriedly guided off stage by a crew member after he suddenly stopped playing and appeared unsteady on his feet, according to the Daily Mail.

It was later revealed that the rock star would be fine as he had only been suffering the effects of dehydration.

Rushed off stage during performance

On Thursday, Felder and his band had taken the stage to play a set as part of the Rock Legends Cruise that bills itself as a "floating rock festival" and sails from Miami, Florida, to CocoCay, Bahamas, and features a lineup that included classic rock stars like Alice Cooper, Styx, Foghat, and many more.

Felder had just begun playing the Eagles' hit "Tequila Sunrise" when he suddenly stopped strumming his guitar and glanced off-stage, at which point a crew member rushed to his side as he unsteadily approached the microphone.

The guitarist and singer then stumbled and nearly lost his balance as the crew member, joined by others including some of Felder's bandmates, helped hold him up and guide him off the stage while fans in the crowd expressed their concern and shouted words of support.

Dehydration cited as the problem

In a statement posted Friday morning to Felder's social media accounts, the rock star's team said, "We appreciate everyone’s concern regarding Don Felder’s abrupt stop to his show last night on the Rock Legends Cruise."

"After recieving medical attention he was deemed to be suffering from dehydration. He was given fluids, and is feeling much better," the statement continued. "To ensure he has ample time to rehydrate and recover fully, we are working on rescheduling today’s shows and adjusting the remainder of the cruise schedule accordingly."

Felder's team added, "Thank you for your understanding, and remember -- drink your water!"

In a separate statement shared with Fox News, Felder's manager Charlie Brusco said, "Don experienced a medical episode last night during the show. He received medical attention and was deemed to be suffering from dehydration."

"By medical rules of the cruise, he’ll be in quarantine for the next 24 hours to rest," the manager added. "Arrangements are being made for him to play on Saturday and Sunday."

In the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Per the Daily Mail, Felder joined The Eagles in 1974, just a couple of years after the band was formed, but left the group amid controversy in 2001 after feuding with other band members like the late co-lead singer Glenn Frey.

Before he left the band, however, Felder and his bandmates were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 in recognition of their immense success in creating and performing hit songs, album sales, concert tours, longevity, and fandom.
