Late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's name has gotten a lot of airtime in recent days after a federal judge began unsealing documents from a lawsuit filed against his longtime girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell.

They contain a number of shocking allegations, including that Epstein recorded former President Bill Clinton having sex.

Woman claimed that Epstein recorded Clinton and other major figures

According to The Guardian, that claim was put forward and then subsequently retracted by a woman named Sarah Ransome.

In addition to Clinton, Ransome also asserted in a series of emails to a New York Post reporter that Prince Andrew and British billionaire mogul Sir Richard Branson were recorded as well.

"When my friend had sexual intercourse with Clinton, Prince Andrew and Richard Branson, sex tapes were in fact filmed on each separate occasion by Jeffrey," Ransome wrote in 2016.

"Thank God she managed to get a hold of some footage of the filmed sex tapes, which clearly identify the faces of Clinton, Prince Andrew and Branson having sexual intercourse with her," the email continued.

Ransome accused Trump of being a "pedophile"

"Frustratingly enough Epstein was not seen in any of the footage but he was clever like that," Ransome went on to insist.

"When my friend eventually had the courage to speak out and went to the police in 2008 to report what had happened, nothing was done and she was utterly humiliated by the police department where she went to report what had happened with Epstein, Clinton, Branson and Prince Andrew," Ransome added.

In another email, she took aim at both former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Donald Trump, stating, "I will make sure that neither that evil bitch Hillary or that pedophile Trump gets elected."

Ransome, who offered a victim impact statement following Maxwell's conviction on sex trafficking charges, further claimed that Trump had sex with one of her friends.

Ransome later retracted allegations

However, no evidence that the tapes exist was ever presented, and Ransome later backed off from her assertions, saying, "I want to walk away from this … I shouldn’t have contacted you and I'm sorry I wasted your time."

Further, The New Yorker contributor Connie Bruck wrote in a 2019 article of how Ransome admitted that her story was fabricated.

"Ransome told me that she had invented the tapes to draw attention to Epstein’s behavior, and to make him believe that she had 'evidence that would come out if he harmed me,'" Bruck explained.

Meanwhile, The Independent quoted a statement issued this week by Branson's company which read, "Any suggestion that Sir Richard Branson was involved in a 'sex tape' is entirely false. The allegations are baseless and unfounded."
