Second gentleman Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, was embroiled in scandal earlier this week following the public revelation and his subsequent admission that his first marriage ended as a result of his engaging in an extramarital affair.

Just days later, eyebrows were raised again as Emhoff publicized himself speaking with another woman to whom he is not married -- Gwen Walz, the wife of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, according to Breitbart.

The progressive leftist governor was selected by Harris as her running mate this week, and his wife is the prospective successor to Emhoff as the next vice-presidential spouse if the Harris-Walz ticket prevails in November's election.

Emhoff calls governor's wife

In an X post on Tuesday captioned with "Welcome to the team, Gwen. I’ve got your back," Emhoff shared a video of an obviously scripted and staged phone call with the Minnesota governor's wife ahead of a scheduled campaign rally in which the newly selected Democratic running mate was introduced.

After the initial introductions, Emhoff said of being the prospective second spouse, "So, Gwen, I remember getting this call four years ago, and I actually know what you’re going through right now, but the good news is, I’ve already been through it."

"So just like Dr. Biden was there for me, who had been through it, and I've been through it, I’m going to be there for you. And we're going to do this together," he continued with a reference to the conversation he had with the current first lady who previously occupied the role of second lady.

"And Kamala and Tim are going to do this together and we are going to win this election together," Emhoff added confidently. "And I cannot wait to see you in Philadelphia in a little bit."

Emhoff cheated on first wife with children's nanny

Emhoff's call with his potential successor Walz was curious given its proximity to the exposure of his prior infidelity with his first wife, Kerstin Emhoff, whom he cheated on with their children's nanny who was also their teacher at a private school, according to Breitbart.

First reported on by the Daily Mail, an unnamed "close friend" of the other woman, identified as Najen Naylor, told the outlet that Naylor was impregnated during the affair but "did not end up keeping the child."

The revelation was stunning, in light of the claimed "decency" of Emhoff by the Harris campaign and its media supporters, and ultimately prompted Emhoff to release a statement that essentially confirmed the scandalous details of the report.

Emhoff acknowledged "tough times" in first marriage because of his bad "actions"

NBC News reported that Emhoff said in a statement, "During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through some tough times on account of my actions," and added, "I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side."

The outlet noted that, according to an anonymous source "familiar with the situation," President Joe Biden and his team became aware of the affair during the 2020 vetting process of Harris as his VP pick, and Harris had learned of the infidelity before she and Emhoff were married around a decade ago.

As for the second gentleman's first wife, Kerstin said in a statement that her marriage to Emhoff ended "for a variety of reasons, many years ago," and added of her ex, "He is a great father to our kids, continues to be a great friend to me, and I am really proud of the warm and supportive blended family Doug, Kamala, and I have built together."
