EPA announces cancellation of over 400 grants relating to DEI and environmental justice
Secretary of State Marco Rubia made headlines this week when he announced that funding for 83% of U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) programs had been shut down.
This wasn't the only victory that the Trump White House scored for taxpayers, as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also canceled hundreds of social justice grants.
EPA has saved a total of $2 billion thus far
According to Breitbart, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin revealed the elimination of over 400 grants relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as well as environmental justice.
UPDATE: I am cancelling over 400 DEI and Environmental Justice grants across 9 grant programs totaling $1.7 BILLION, bringing @EPA's total savings to over $2 BILLION!
This fourth round of EPA/@DOGE cuts was our biggest yet.

A press release put out by the EPA explained that the grants were administered across "nine unnecessary programs" which had been identified with help from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
"This marks the fourth round of EPA-DOGE partnered cancellations as the Administrator oversees a line-by-line review of spending, bringing the total taxpayer dollars saved to more than $2 billion since being sworn in," the press release stated.
EPA and DOGE "are reviewing every dollar spent"
Zeldin boasted of how his staff had worked "hand-in-hand with DOGE to rein in wasteful federal spending" and managed to save "more than $2 billion in taxpayer money."
The administrator went on to pledge that employees at his agency are committed to being "exceptional stewards of tax dollars."
That revelation came just under a month after Zeldin trumpeted an earlier round of cuts aimed at DEI and environmental initiatives.
"At President Trump’s direction, EPA, with the assistance of DOGE, are reviewing every dollar spent," Zeldin said in a press release dated February 14.
An additional $60 million was saved last month
"The American people deserve accountability and responsible stewardship of their hard-earned tax dollars," Zeldin continued.
"There will be zero tolerance for waste and abuse, and by canceling these contracts, we are delivering nearly $60 million in immediate savings to the American people," he declared.
Zeldin further asserted that the moves are in line with President Donald Trump's mandate, noting, "The American public spoke loud and clear last November."
"The EPA will deliver on President Trump’s priorities, ensuring taxpayer dollars go towards our core mission of protecting human health and the environment, as well as unleashing energy dominance, implementing permitting reform, making America the AI capital of the world, and bringing back the American auto industry," he added.
