Former President Donald Trump and several of his family members took a massive legal blow last week after New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron found them liable in the civil fraud suit brought against them by NY Attorney General Letitia James (D), a staunch Trump critic. 

According to the New York Post, Judge Engoron found the Trumps and their business liable for over $350 million -- a ruling they, and million of others, found completely unfair given that there were no injured parties.

The former president and his adult children, including Eric Trump, torched the judge in the wake of the ruling.

Eric Trump, the former president's second-oldest son, described the trial as a "setup."

"Rigged"

Eric Trump also said the entire trial was "rigged" to go against his father, even though the elder Trump literally helped shape the New York City skyline into what it is today.

"My father built the skyline of New York City: And this is the thanks he gets for doing absolutely nothing wrong," Eric Trump said.

On “The Ingraham Angle,” Eric Trump called his case “rigged,” claiming the suit filed by New York Democratic Attorney General Letitia James should have gone via the court’s commercial division, which he surmised would have discluded Engoron.

While the former president was ordered to pay $354 million as a result of the judgment, Eric Trump and his older brother, Donald Trump Jr., were ordered to pay $4 million in damages.

Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. will also be barred from serving as an officer or director of any New York City-based business for a period of two years.

Social media reacts

Many users across social media were furious at the result of the trial, with most agreeing that it was nothing less than a political witch hunt against the former president.

"This is monumental corruption. The Dems are the most corrupt political party in America at the moment," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Appeal beyond vile! These Judges need to be held accountable!"

It'll be fascinating to see what happens when Trump appeals the ruling.
