FBI arrests agent who called Rudy Giuliani 'compromised' by Russia
The FBI arrested a former FBI agent who claimed that Rudy Giuliani was "compromised" by Russia.
Ironically, the agent was caught leaking confidential intelligence information to the media. The FBI arrested 15-year FBI veteran Jonathan Buma at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York as he prepared to leave the country.
According to a criminal complaint, the counterintelligence specialist illegally printed and disseminated FBI documents that he knew were confidential as he prepared to write a book about his FBI career.

According to the feds, Buma shared excerpts of his book draft with "associates" through email. The draft included details about "the FBI's investigations into a foreign country's weapons of mass destruction ('WMDs') program."
Some of the confidential information Buma illegally obtained was published by an American news outlet in October 2023.
“In the fall of 2023, a U.S. media entity published an article containing confidential information related to an associate of a foreign government official and that BUMA knew he had a duty to protect,” the complaint says.
Around the time Buma was disseminating confidential information, he publicly accused the FBI of showing favoritism to Trump allies including Giuliani. Buma claimed that the FBI suppressed intelligence linking Giuliani and Russia through a Ukrainian oligarch.
In a 2023 article for Business Insider, Buma aired the incendiary claim that Giuliani was possibly "compromised" by Russian intelligence. Buma - who also went to Congress with his complaints - said he grew concerned as the Biden-Ukraine scandal emerged ahead of the 2020 election, suspecting it originated in a foreign smear campaign.
"What if this is the leading edge of a disinformation campaign to create a theme of derogatory information about the Bidens in anticipation that Biden will be Trump's main political rival?" he recalled telling another FBI colleague.
Giuliani vindicated
Giuliani's 2019 efforts to pressure Ukraine to look into the Biden family were at the center of the first impeachment of President Trump. The FBI raided Giuliani's home in 2021, but he was ultimately never charged with foreign lobbying.
Deceptive claims of Russian influence were used to dismiss legitimate evidence that Giuliani helped publicize from Hunter Biden's laptop during the 2020 election cycle. Giuliani's ties to the laptop were cited to discredit the computer, which is today acknowledged as completely authentic.
Where Ukraine is concerned, Giuliani has been totally vindicated - but the Trump loyalist, once known as "America's mayor" for his leadership after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City, has paid a heavy price for standing by Trump, including a staggering $150 million in a defamation case arising from the 2020 election.
Giuliani was also indicted with Trump and others in Georgia for "election interference" as Democrats ramped up a lawfare campaign to derail Trump's ultimately successful 2024 presidential bid. The Georgia case is in limbo after prosecutor Fani Willis was disqualified for misconduct.
