FBI director admits America is under higher threat of terrorist attacks

It took a while, but some of President Joe Biden's top officials have finally begun to admit that America isn't anywhere near as safe as it was just a few years ago.

During recent testimony with the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, FBI Director Christopher Wray admitted that at the current time, the United States faces an elevated risk of terrorist attacks.

The hearing was centered around the recent Hamas attack on Israel, and Wray noted that the attack has caused a spike in threats to America and its interests abroad.

Wray was put in the hot seat by some Republicans in attendance, including Sen. Rick Scott (FL).

Are we safer?

Scott bluntly asked the FBI director whether or not America is safer now than when Biden took office. The director quickly danced around the question but ultimately admitted that things are bad.

"Is the United States safer from foreign terror threats today?" Scott asked the director. "Are we safer than when Joe Biden took office?"

"What I would say to you is that the terror threats have elevated," Wray said. "But I also think there are a lot of things the country has done throughout law enforcement to be better prepared to deal with them."

Scott posted a clip of his session with Wray on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"I asked FBI Director Wray a simple question: is the U.S. safer today than it was before @JoeBiden took office? After nearly 10 seconds of silence, he finally admitted what we all know… “…the terror threats have elevated…” he wrote.

"Whole other level"

Wray also admitted that terrorist threats against the United States have been raised to a "whole other level" in the wake of the Hamas-led attack on Israel that left scores dead, injured, tortured and captured.

"The reality is that the terrorism threat has been elevated throughout 2023, but the ongoing war in the Middle East has raised the threat of an attack against Americans in the United States to a whole other level," Wray said.

Many, including members of Congress, are concerned about the number of illegal border crossers with potential terror links.

Only time will tell if the Middle East conflict escalates to another level, and if that happens, we all should be on high alert.
