FBI Director Kash Patel announces arrest of alleged high-ranking MS-13 leader
During last year's campaign, President Donald Trump repeatedly promised to go after foreign criminal organizations such as the notorious MS-13 gang.
Proof that Trump is making good on his pledge could be seen this week when FBI Director Kash Patel announced the arrest of an alleged high-ranking MS-13 figure.
Raid turned up multiple firearms along with two suppressors
According to the New York Post, Henry Josue Villatoro Santos was one of 340 illegal immigrant criminals who have been taken into custody this month by an FBI-led task force.
The 24-year-old was arrested during a raid early on Thursday morning at his mother's home in Virginia's Prince William County.
The Post noted that Villatoro initially refused to surrender when law enforcement officers breached the house, leading them to deploy a stun grenade.
A subsequent search of the premises uncovered multiple firearms along with a stash of ammunition and a pair of suppressors.
Attorney general says Villatoro is one of MS-13's "top leaders"
The Post noted that Patel later touted the raid when speaking with reporters at a press conference, stating, "This is what happens when you let good cops be cops."
He later told the newspaper that it was "an honor to work alongside the tough and fearless leadership of Attorney General Pam Bondi, [Customs and Border Protection], and Gov. [Glenn] Youngkin."
"The arrest of an MS-13 leader this morning is a critical victory for law enforcement and a strong message to violent gangs: your days of terrorizing our communities are numbered," Patel added.
Bondi spoke up at the press briefing as well, describing Villatoro as "one of the top leaders, heading up all MS-13 violent crimes on the East Coast."
The attorney general went on to declare that the alleged gang boss "was responsible for heinous acts, and he should never have been in this country."
Governor threatens to defund sanctuary jurisdictions
For his part, Youngkin asserted that "Virginia is not a sanctuary state" and said his administration is "working to get the bad guys out of here."
The Republican governor then warned that he would defund Fairfax County and other Democrat-dominated localities that are refusing to collaborate with federal authorities when it comes to illegal immigration.
"If you are a local jurisdiction and not helping us and not cooperating with us, you are working against the safety of all of those men and women that call your jurisdiction home," Youngkin stated.
