The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has come to the conclusion that at least 10 children have died as a result of receiving COVID-19 vaccines.

The New York Times reports that FDA Director Dr. Vinay Prasad revealed as much in a memorandum released to agency staff on Friday.

There have long been questions about the safety of these vaccines, particularly for children and youth.

The findings

The memorandum, at the time of this writing, has not been released to the public. The Times, however, has managed to get a look at it.

The outlet reports:

The director of the Food and Drug Administration’s vaccine division said in a memo to agency staff on Friday that a review had found that at least 10 children had died “after and because of” getting a Covid vaccination.
Dr. Vinay Prasad, the director, suggested in the memo that the deaths were related to myocarditis, or inflammation of the heart muscle.

The memo did, however, leave some details out.

The Times continues:

The memo, obtained by The New York Times and not publicly released, did not provide details such as the ages of the children, whether they had any other health problems or how the agency determined the vaccine-death link. Nor did it disclose the maker of the vaccines involved.

Dr. Prasad, in the memo, refers to the finding as "a profound revelation," stating, "For the first time, the U.S. F.D.A. will acknowledge that Covid-19 vaccines have killed American children."

The Washington Post reports that the FDA is going to be taking "a stricter approach for federal vaccine approvals."

Per the outlet:

Vinay Prasad, an FDA official whose approach to vaccine policy has been championed by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., told agency officials that the FDA will rethink its framework for annual flu shots, examine whether Americans should be receiving multiple vaccines at the same time, and require vaccine makers to show far more data to prove the safety and value of their products.

That's not all.

The Post goes on to report, "Prasad also wrote that the new approach means the agency will have strict requirements for authorizing new vaccines for pregnant women."

There is little doubt that, for many Americans, these steps are long overdue.
