There's old, and then there's Judge Pauline Newman.

Pauline is a federal judge who has just been suspended from hearing cases until she passes a mental competency test.

Why is that?

Because she's 96-YEARS-OLD!

America's Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit unanimously agreed that Pauline Newman has completely refused to comply with an investigation into her mental fitness.

As a result, the old woman has been suspended for at least one year, or until she completes the appropriate court-ordered medical examinations.

"We are acutely aware that this is not a fitting capstone to Judge Newman’s exemplary and storied career," the council of judges who suspended Newman said. "We have a solemn obligation under the Act and an obligation to the litigants before our Court and court staff to take action—and not to simply look the other way— when it appears that a judge of this Court is no longer capable of performing the duties of her judicial office."

Newman is refuting all claims that she isn't mentally fit, referencing "the opinions of two doctors to defend her fitness, and filed a lawsuit within another Washington, D.C., court in hopes of preventing or transferring the investigation."

Newman is America's oldest acting federal judge.

How old, you ask?

She was appointed to the Federal Circuit by President Ronald Reagan in 1984.

Even 39 years ago, she wasn't exactly young. Newman was already 57 when she was appointed.

Concerns about Newman have been being raised by court employees for a while, describing Newman as going through bouts of "memory loss, confusion, lack of focus, inability to understand and execute simple tasks that she had previously been able to perform, agitation, paranoia, and hostile behavior."

Even if she was appointed by the great Ronald Reagan, it's probably time for Newman to take a seat.

Family dynasties

One of the biggest problems of American politics is that the same few families seem to dominate the landscape for generations.

The Bush family, the Clinton family, the Biden family, the McConnell family, the Cuomo family, the Pelosi family.

Lets not let the Newman family add their name to the list of clans taking advantage of voters.
