Fetterman says Dems are underestimating Elon Musk's endorsement of Trump

U.S. Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) believes that some of his fellow Democrats have misdiagnosed the impact that Elon Musk's endorsement of former President Donald Trump is having on the 2024 presidential election.

Fetterman said as much during a recent interview with the New York Post.

The senator suggested that his fellow Democrats ought to be "concerned" about the situation, but, for whatever reason, they are not.

He suggested that they are doing so "at our peril."

Fetterman explains

During his interview with the Post, Fetterman gave his take on what effect Elon Musk's support of Trump is having on the 2024 presidential election.

"Musk is a concern. Not even just that he has endorsed [Trump], but the fact that now he’s becoming an active participant and showing up and doing rallies and things like that," he said.

Fetterman continued, "I mean, [Musk] is incredibly successful, and, you know, I think some people would see him as, like, a Tony Stark. Democrats, you know, kind of make light of it, or they make fun of him jumping up and down and things like that. And I would just say that they are doing that at our peril."

There is no doubt that Musk is working hard to get Trump elected.

The question that remains, however, is whether he will be successful at doing so.

Background

Fetterman is a U.S. senator for the state of Pennsylvania, which is, once again, going to be a key battleground state in the 2024 presidential election. Accordingly, Fetterman, in recent weeks, has been asked to weigh in on how things are looking for Vice President Kamala Harris in his state.

In response, Fetterman has suggested that Trump stands a good chance of taking Pennsylvania. The senator said that this is especially the case after the first assassination attempt on Trump, which, of course, took place in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Trump's response to this assassination attempt, in fact, appears to have been the very reason why Musk endorsed Trump. It was not long after the attempt that Musk did so.

Trump recently returned to Butler, Pennsylvania, where he held a massive campaign rally, and it was there that Musk actually came off the sidelines and did some campaigning for Trump. But, that's not all Musk is doing. Fox reports:

Musk also posted on X that he would be speaking at a series of town hall events in the battleground state through the weekend. Additionally, the billionaire has put his money where his mouth is, donating $75 million to a pro-Trump super PAC, which focuses on voter turnout.

It would be an understatement to say that Musk is doing what he can to get Trump elected.
