This latest carnage comes after a bloody Memorial Day weekend in which 10 individuals lost their lives and another 43 were wounded.
That fact was noted by Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez, who previously criticized former Mayor Lori Lightfoot for being too soft on crime.
Chicago suffered a mass shooting that lasted all Memorial Day weekend. 53 shot, 10 killed. Sadly, no “thoughts & prayers” will be said, white wooden crosses erected, or poverty pimps demanding action.
This is the summer norm for our beloved city. And we are only getting started.

"Chicago suffered a mass shooting that lasted all Memorial Day weekend. 53 shot, 10 killed," Lopez wrote. "Sadly, no 'thoughts [and] prayers' will be said, white wooden crosses erected, or poverty pimps demanding action."
"This is the summer norm for our beloved city," the local politician lamented before adding, "And we are only getting started."
