First Lady touts "Bidenomics" as polls show Americans are unhappy with her husband's economic record

Bloomberg reported this week that first lady Jill Biden will spend the next two weeks touring swing states ahead of next year's presidential election.

The first lady will be busy touting her husband's economic policies, something he has begun referring to as "Bidenomics." This will include visits to "workforce hubs" in Pennsylvania and Georgia, two states that he won by razor-thin margins.

Mrs. Biden will highlight the president's legislative accomplishments

Also on the agenda is talking up legislation that the president has signed, including the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act.

What's more, the first lady is scheduled to address attendees at the National Governors Association's summer meeting in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

However, polling data suggests that Mrs. Biden may find selling voters on the president's record may be an uphill climb.

Poll shows only one-third of Americans like Biden's economic record

The Associated Press reported late last month that a survey conducted by the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found just 34% of Americans approve of how Biden has handled the economy.

What's more, the fact that it is first lady and not President Biden who is out campaigning may raise yet more questions regarding his fitness for office.

The issue came up again this week after the New York Post reported that Biden skipped dinner at a NATO conference on Tuesday evening, with the White House citing his heavy workload as the reason.

Some observers responded by pointing out how the commander in chief just spent last weekend relaxing on the beach in his home state of Delaware.

Critics joke that Biden "almost worked a whole standard work week"

Among them was Abigail Marone, who serves as communications director for Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley. She tweeted out an image of the 80-year-old president sprawled out on a beach chair.

Conservative commentator Shashank Tripathi spoke up as well, joking that Biden "almost worked a whole standard work week" and thus "needs a break."
