In a move which is sure to leave many liberals seething, the Florida state Supreme Court handed a major win this week to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.

According to the Washington Examiner, Florida's highest judicial body decided on Thursday that a grand jury can investigate the pharmaceutical companies which manufacture vaccines for COVID-19.

Grand jury will operate for 12 months

"A statewide grand jury shall be promptly impaneled for a term of twelve calendar months, to run from the date of impanelment, with jurisdiction throughout the State of Florida, to investigate crime, return indictments, make presentments, and otherwise perform all functions of a grand jury with regard to the offenses stated herein," the high court's ruling read.

That came in response to a petition the governor filed earlier this month in which he accused drug companies of fraudulent behavior.

"Some representations by the pharmaceutical manufacturers even suggested that the vaccines would help end the pandemic," the petition pointed out.

"Florida law prohibits fraudulent practices, including the dissemination of false or misleading advertisements of a drug and the use of any representation or suggestion in any advertisement relating to a drug that an application of a drug is effective when it is not," it added.

A press release put out on December 13 reiterated those points while also arguing that adverse vaccine side effects were "minimized and disregarded."

"COVID-19 vaccines produced by Pfizer and Moderna have received FDA approval for pediatric and adult patients and continue to be marketed as safe and effective, even though the vaccines do not prevent transmission and adverse events have been minimized and disregarded by the Biden Administration and Big Pharma," the statement declared.

It also quoted Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo, who said, "Health care professionals should always communicate the risks of a medical intervention to their patients in a manner that is clinically appropriate and meets standards of ethical practice."

"President Biden and Big Pharma have completely prevented that from happening – it is wrong," Ladapo went on to complain.

"With these new actions, we will shed light on the forces that have obscured truthful communication about the COVID-19 vaccines," he stressed.

The Examiner noted that DeSantis's actions did not go unnoticed by Dr. Anthony Fauci, who told CNN that he didn't "have a clue" as to why any investigation is necessary.
