Former Clinton official says Biden is in 'very big' trouble over classified docs scandal

According to the Daily Wire, David Gergen, the former Clinton administration official and current CNN analyst, has just opined that President Joe Biden is in "very, very big" trouble as a result of the classified documents scandal.

Gergen said as much during a recent CNN interview with host Anderson Cooper.

Cooper began by asking Gergen, "How big a mess is this for the Biden administration?"

"It’s very, very big. Not legally, but politically, it’s a very, very big deal," Gergen replied.

"They're going to get creamed"

Gergen went on to say that he believes that Biden and his people are "making a big mistake" with regard to the way that they are handling the classified documents scandal.

Gergen said:

I may be wrong about this. I think they’ve done a wonderful job being cooperative with the government, and they’ve done it, quote, by the book, as they were saying. But, I don’t think sitting there, hunkering down now, just acting like it’s not out there, is a good strategy. They’re going to get creamed doing that.

Gergen and Anderson went on to take issue with the fact that Biden and his people, after the initial report that classified documents were found in early November 2022, did not disclose to the public that more classified documents had been found.

"There’s a temptation in every one of these kinds of crises, to hunker down, and it’s the wrong temptation. It’s the wrong temptation to listen to," Gergen said.

"You’ve just got to get the facts out," he added.

Is this the end of Biden?

Gergen only went so far as to say that Biden is in hot water, politically speaking. But, some commentators, such as the Fox News Channel's Tucker Carlson, believe that this classified documents scandal is likely the end of the road for Biden.

"In fact, this is pretty clearly the beginning of the end for Joe Biden," Carlson said during a recent edition of his program Tucker Carlson Tonight.

"We can't prove that," Carlson added. "The future is unknowable, but holy smokes, it does not look good and it doesn't look good in a very recognizable way."

Carlson based his opinion on several facts - such as the fact that this classified documents scandal has gone public when the powers that be could have surely prevented it from doing so, and, the fact that U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed a Republican independent counsel to investigate the scandal.

We'll see if Carlson turns out to be right. As he said, things are not looking good for Biden.
