Former football player Jalen Kitna has child porn charges dropped
Former Florida Gators quarterback Jalen Kitna will no longer face child porn charges after accepting a plea deal.
The 20-year-old, who is the son of NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, was arrested in November for sharing child sexual abuse images on his phone.
Kitna, who was facing five felony charges for child porn, pled no contest to two counts of disorderly conduct Wednesday in a Florida court room. As a result of the plea, Kitna will not face jail time or register as a sex offender.

His lawyers expressed gratitude for the outcome, saying it was the "right" one.
“What we’ve got here today is a result that’s fair, and the right result,” Kitna's attorney, Ron Kozlowski told the Orlando Sentinel. “Obviously the state agrees, and we feel good about that. This is going give Jalen an opportunity to move on to the next step, whatever that is.”
Kitna was suspended by the Florida Gators following his arrest in November. The police, responding to a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, tied Kitna to child sexual abuse images that had been shared on the social media app Discord.
After a search of his phone, police found three additional child sexual abuse images that had been saved on his device for at least a year.
He was charged with five counts - two for distribution and three for possession of child sexual abuse material.
"Valuable lesson"
Kitna's lawyers argued he was unaware the girls were underage.
In a statement to the court Wednesday, Kitna apologized to his loved ones and said he learned a "valuable lesson."
“I want to start off by apologizing to my family, my friends and those that care about me,” Kitna said. “Their support through this whole ordeal has meant a lot to me. The hardest thing about this whole process has been seeing how it’s affected them."
“The valuable lessons that I’ve learned through this whole deal have been very helpful. I’m looking forward to applying those things and moving forward," he added.
Kitna was dropped from the Gators after four games last year. He has been barred from the University of Florida campus until November 2025.
