The Republican-led House Oversight Committee is actively investigating the circumstances that led to former President Joe Biden using an autopen to sign mountains of orders and legislation in his final months in office.

One of the people called to testify before the powerful committee, Anthony Bernal, senior adviser to Jill Biden, has refused to testify before the committee, according to the Daily Caller

Bernal is refusing to appear before a June 26 interview before the committee as part of the "investigation into former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.

The former aide to Jill Biden was torched by House Oversight Committee James Comer of Kentucky (R) for refusing to appear, making the situation look even worse for Biden's orbit.

What's going on?

Comer held nothing back in criticizing the former Biden aide and his unwillingness to show up for the interview to aide with the committee's investigation.

“Now that the White House has waived executive privilege, it’s abundantly clear that Anthony Bernal – Jill Biden’s so-called ‘work husband’ – never intended to be transparent about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and the ensuing cover-up," Comer said.

He added, “With no privilege left to hide behind, Mr. Bernal is now running scared, desperate to bury the truth. The American people deserve answers and accountability, and the Oversight Committee will not tolerate this obstruction. I will promptly issue a subpoena to compel Anthony Bernal’s testimony before the Committee."

The Kentucky House committee leader also commented on a recent interview with Neera Tanden, a former White House aide.

"Just yesterday, we heard from our first witness, Neera Tanden, the former staff secretary who controlled the Biden autopen,” Comer continued.

“Ms. Tanden testified that she had minimal interaction with President Biden, despite wielding tremendous authority.”

Subpoena issued

Chairman Comer made a bombshell announcement in an X post on Thursday, announcing that Bernal is now subject to a subpoena.

"Let this subpoena send a clear message to Biden’s inner circle: We will stop at nothing to expose the truth about Joe Biden’s decline & unauthorized use of the autopen," he wrote.

Only time will tell if Comer and his committee are able to break any new ground in the Biden autopen investigation.
