Hunter Biden raised eyebrows earlier this week when he lashed out at other members of his party over their alleged treatment of his father during an interview with Andrew Gallagher.

Those remarks were met with fierce pushback from Biden's fellow Democrats, including a former Obama aide.

Former Obama spokesman: Hunter Biden "was part of the problem"

According to the Washington Examiner, Biden's critics included "Pod Save America" cohost Tommy Vietor, who served as spokesman for former President Barack Obama.

"You were on the board of Burisma because of who your dad is, and that is what people hate about Washington, and it was part of the problem," Vietor said of Biden.

"And like, there’s some other weird s--t like, he blames the debate on Biden’s staff saying they gave him Ambien on his foreign trip," Vietor continued.

"But like, Biden got back from the G7 on June 14, the debate was June 27. If Ambien was the issue ... I don’t think it’s Ambien, it’s age, right?" the podcaster insisted.

Hunter Biden said his father could have beaten Trump

Biden's remarks to Gallagher echoed similar comments which he made earlier in the month while speaking with former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman Jaime Harrison.

As the Washington Post reported, Biden insisted that his father could have beaten President Donald Trump had he not been pressured to drop out by powerful figures within the party.

"You know what, we are going to fight amongst ourselves for the next three years until there’s a nominee. And then with the nominee, we better as hell get behind that nominee," Biden was quoted as saying.

"And I will tell you why we lost the last election. We lost the election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party. That's my position," he continued.

"We had the advantage of incumbency. We had the advantage of an incredibly successful administration, and the Democratic Party literally melted down," the former president's son alleged.

Jake Tapper said Joe Biden's decision to rely on his son was "bizarre"

This week is hardly the first time Hunter Biden has faced criticism, as The Independent reported that he was excoriated in May by CNN host Jake Tapper.

Tapper, who has coauthored a book about Joe Biden's failed reelection campaign, told Katie Couric that the former president's decision to rely on his son was "bizarre."

"Look at the record," Tapper noted. "After his brother died, he cheated on his wife with his brother’s widow and then got her addicted to crack. That’s just one thing I could say. I don’t have a lot of personal regard for him."
