One of President Donald Trump's former lawyers, who currently works at the Department of Justice, received fantastic news this week after a narrow Senate vote advanced the possibility of his career advancing significantly.

According to Fox News, Emil Bove is one step closer to serving on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after the Senate advanced his nomination in a 50-48 vote this week.

Democrats have worked overtime to crush Bove's chances at serving in the prestigious federal appeals court, but their efforts have run dry as the Senate gave him a major boost this week.

Only one Republican, Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, broke with her party on advancing Bove to serving on the federal appeals court.

What's going on?

While all Democrats opposed and will undoubtedly oppose him in the final confirmation vote, Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, who supported advancing him this time around, said she wouldn't be a "yes" vote for the one that counts.

"We have to have judges who will adhere to the rule of law and the Constitution and do so regardless of what their personal views may be," Collins said in a statement.

She added, "Mr. Bove’s political profile and some of the actions he has taken in his leadership roles at the Department of Justice cause me to conclude he would not serve as an impartial jurist."

Dem senators, specifically Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, attempted to be dramatic during the vote.

Fox News noted:

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., attempted to push for more debate time, but Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, pushed forward with the vote.

"What are you afraid of?" Booker erupted, after Grassley tried to speak over him and hold the vote. "Debating this [nomination], putting things on the record — Dear God," he said, "that's what we are here for."

Booker added, "What are they saying to you... that is making you do something to violate the decorum, the decency and the respect of this committee to at least hear each other out?"

Dems storm out

The Democrats involved in the vote reportedly stormed out of the room in protest.

"This is wrong, sir, and I join with my colleagues in leaving," Booker said to the Republican Senate leader.

Hopefully, Bove's confirmation will go off without a hitch.

President Trump needs more allies in the federal judiciary, that's for sure.
