Friend and classmate shares details on attending school with Barron Trump and Secret Service detail
Former first son Barron Trump graduated from high school in May and now one of his friends and classmates has opened up about what it was like to attend school with the youngest son of former President Donald Trump.
That included the revelation that Barron was once rushed to safety by his Secret Service detail in the middle of a class when a nearby 911 call prompted a security lockdown of the school, according to one report.
While that incident was ultimately a false alarm and no big deal, the friend recalled that Barron's Secret Service detail was ever-present and eventually became "normalized" and barely noticeable by most other students.
Barron's security detail at school
The Daily Mail recently interviewed one of Barron Trump's friends and classmates at the prestigious Oxbridge Academy private school in Palm Beach, Florida, near the former president's Mar-a-Lago resort and residence.
For security reasons, Barron officially attended the school under an alias, "Jack," and would be dropped off with his Secret Service just before classes began in the mornings.
"He had multiple agents who would rotate throughout the day and there was always one with him wherever he needed to go," the friend said. "The agents would stand right outside the door during class. If he went to the bathroom they would go with him and wait outside."
There was once a 911 call at a nearby grocery store that sent the school into lockdown and caused Barron's detail to burst into the classroom to rush him to a safe location, but nothing more came of that incident and, for the most part, Barron's agents didn't otherwise disrupt the learning experience for other students.
"A lot of parents had concerns that the school could become a target when they heard he was coming to Oxbridge," the friend recalled. "It was a really big deal when he arrived and everyone wanted to get to know him. But after a while it became normalized. The kids barely took any notice of the Secret Service."
What was Barron like?
The Miami Herald reported that the unnamed friend also shared a little bit about what the "mysterious" Barron Trump was really like as a fellow student at Oxbridge.
"Barron was very funny and sociable. He would start the most random conversations and could be very entertaining," the friend told the Daily Mail. "He was also very mysterious. He never attended football games or dances. I don’t think he met up with anyone outside of school or went on dates."
"If he had a girlfriend, it was top secret, we never knew about it," they continued. "I’m sure he had fun in his own way but it was a bit of a shame that he didn’t get to have a normal high school life like everyone else."
Indeed, in addition to attending the school under an alias, Barron was also prohibited by his protective parents from appearing in any social media posts from the school or its yearbook, and school staff were reportedly required to sign non-disclosure agreements and not share information about his attendance at the school with anybody.
Most other students "proud" they went to school with Trump's son
Perhaps also for security reasons, the friend told the Daily Mail that Barron rarely ever ate lunch at the school, though he did hang out with his friends at lunchtime, and said, "Barron always went to the lunchroom to sit with his friends but he never ate any lunch. He never specifically said why, just that he would wait until he got home to eat. It was a little unusual."
All in all, attending school with the son of a former president was a positive and memorable experience for most of the students, as the friend explained, "I do think everyone will be proud that they went to school with Barron. A lot of the students consider themselves Republicans and everyone was super excited when Trump showed up for the graduation."
