Riley Gaines destroyed Rep. Ocasio-Cortez in heated social media dispute
Progressive leftist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) likes to portray herself as a modern-day feminist fighting for women's rights, but she just tangled with an actual warrior for the rights of women who also happens to be conservative.
The arrogant New York congresswoman just came out on the losing end of an online battle against former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines, an activist who stands staunchly opposed to biological men competing in women's and girls' sports, according to the Daily Mail.
Ocasio-Cortez was left speechless and subject to the wrath of the MAGA crowd on social media after she flippantly dismissed and insulted Gaines for daring to criticize her leftist politics.
Gaines vs. Ocasio-Cortez
The back-and-forth began Sunday night when Gaines posted a photo on X of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez at a rally with leftist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and the openly declared socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, and wrote, "We're being destroyed from within."
On Monday afternoon, Ocasio-Cortez shared Gaines' post and quipped, "Maybe if you channeled all this anger into swimming faster you wouldn’t have come in fifth," referencing a swim race in which Gaines lost to a biological male swimmer posing as transgender to compete against females
In response, Gaines initially shared the congresswoman's insulting belittlement of her accomplishments as a Division 1 NCAA swimmer, and wrote, "It’s always hilarious when they think they’ve landed a 'gotcha' by pointing out I was the 5th-fastest woman *in the nation* yet they conveniently forget the mediocre man who ranked 462nd in the men’s division lol. Misogynistic dunce."
Debate challenge
That was only Round One of the social media scuffle, however, as Gaines appeared Monday evening on Fox News with host Laura Ingraham and challenged Rep. Ocasio-Cortez to a political debate on the issues.
"She can defend socialism. I will defend capitalism. She can defend removing God. I will defend embracing a Biblical worldview. She can defend child sacrifice. I will defend the sanctity of life," Gaines said. "Any of the radical and insane Democratic policies and platforms that they stand for, I will debate the opposite. I'm challenging AOC to it here."
Ocasio-Cortez shared a clip of Gaines' debate offer and responded, "And I would like to challenge this person to get a real job."
"This is comical given it's coming from someone whose own party shut down the government and left you technically … jobless," Gaines replied. "And I guess I’ll take that as a no (which is to be expected when your positions are indefensible on virtually every issue)."
Gaines fired off one additional parting blow to end the kerfuffle, as she shared the congresswoman's dismissive post about getting a "real job" and retorted, "I have a real job. I'm a mom. It's the most important & rewarding job in the world. I think if you had a baby girl like I do, you'd understand my positions a little better."
Spat follows legal victory for Gaines
The Daily Mail reported that the back-and-forth between Gaines and Ocasio-Cortez came after the conservative activist scored a legal win in the litigation she is pushing to help end the unfair travesty of biological males who identify as transgender women being allowed to compete against -- and often dominate -- actual biological female athletes.
A federal judge recently ruled that a lawsuit pressing Title IX claims -- the federal law that separated men's and women's sports for fairness -- against the NCAA can proceed, albeit with some initial additional claims and defendants removed from the suit.
Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez also found herself as the recipient of a well-deserved pile-on from Gaines' friends and associates -- not to mention even a few moderate Democrats -- who denounced the congresswoman's insultingly dismissive attitude toward someone who is actually standing up to defend other women.
