We all know at this point that running for elected office gets a lot easier if you can snag an endorsement from President Donald Trump, and one lucky Georgia Republican candidate just received that golden blessing.

According to JustTheNews, Georgia's Republican Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, a loyal Trump backer, was just endorsed for the state's 2026 gubernatorial election, putting him well within reach of the top job in the state.

Jones will run the race to replace Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, a term-limited governor who has had an up-and-down relationship with Trump, especially in the wake of the 2020 election.

Jones will face state Attorney General Chris Carr in the Republican gubernatorial primary next year.

What's going on?

One thing we know is that President Trump values loyalty above all else, and Jones has proven he is one of the most loyal MAGA Republicans out there, having supported Trump in his last three presidential election cycles.

Trump heaped praise on Jones in a Truth Social post, pointing out his die-hard loyalty and highlighting his collegiate athletic accomplishments.

Jones was praised for helping Trump win the state of Georgia in the 2024 election, which proved to be pivotal for Trump securing victory.

"Highly Respected and very popular Lieutenant Governor, Burt Jones, is running to be the next Governor of the Great State of Georgia, a very special place to me in that we had a BIG Presidential Election Win just eight short months ago," Trump wrote.

Trump added, "Burt was strongly committed to my Campaign in 2016, 2020, and 2024, and worked tirelessly to help us WIN. He has been with us from the very beginning."

"Complete and Total Endorsement"

The president continued highlighting Jones's accomplishments.

"I know his family well, and have seen Burt tested at the most difficult levels and times — He is a WARRIOR, a successful Businessman, former SEC Championship winning Georgia Bulldogs football player (Known for his toughness!), and now, as Lieutenant Governor, Burt has proven he has the Courage and Wisdom to deliver strong results for the incredible people of his wonderful State and Nation," Trump wrote.

He added, "Burt Jones for Governor has my Complete and Total Endorsement – HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN."

While anything is possible, it's safe to say that Jones now has the best possible chance at winning the primary and, hopefully, the general election.
