GOP senator highlights Trump's 'steel spine' in negociating new trade deals
One of President Donald Trump's key priorities is addressing America's trade imbalance, with the president recently announcing a new deal with the United Kingdom.
That win was met with praise this past weekend from one GOP lawmaker, who hailed Trump for having a "steel spine."
Ohio senator contrasts Trump with "incompetent" predecessor
The remark came from freshman Ohio Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno during an appearance on "Breitbart News Saturday."
"It’s amazing to watch," Moreno said of Trump's negotiating strategy. "I mean, the President is obviously, this is his strong — strongest suit."
"The Democrats don’t know what to do about it, because they realize, over the last four years, they had an auto pen that was in charge of the White House — a guy who is basically a drooling incompetent, and now you have a president that’s deeply engaged," Moreno continued.
"I mean, I don’t think the man sleeps," the senator declared before describing Trump's efforts as being "generational" in nature.
Moreno says trade deals will "make a huge long-term difference"
"My kids and grandkids will be better off in this country because of what President Trump is doing today," Moreno insisted.
"The Democrats have no ideas to put forward, other than they just want to be in opposition to President Trump. But he’s got a steel spine," he said.
Moreno predicted that Trump is "going to make great deals for this country that are going to make a huge long-term difference" and lead to a "golden age in America unlike anything we’ve ever seen."
The Ohio senator's words echoed a social media post he previously put up concerning the "absolutely historic" UK agreement.
Deal keeps 10% tariff in place while lifting levies on certain products
"We will no longer be ripped off and will no longer tolerate trade imbalances that have destroyed the opportunities for working Americans," he asserted.

Fox News noted that the UK deal will keep an existing 10% tariff in place while also lifting import levies on steel, automobiles, and other specific items.
"The deal includes billions of dollars of increased market access for American exports, especially in agriculture, dramatically increasing access for American beef, ethanol and virtually all of the products produced by our great farmers," Trump was quoted as saying in a statement.
