Gov. Newsom tells fake stories about tough childhood to match his audience: Report

Democrats have a long and continued history of attempting to match their audience, whether that be accent changes or false stories about their childhood, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom is the latest to tell a tall tale about his upbringing.

According to the Daily Mail, during a recent appearance on the "All The Smoke" podcast, hosted by former NBA champions Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Newsom attempted to make it sound as though he struggled in his childhood and young adult life.

But those who know Newsom best and who are experts on California politics know better, and they know that Newsom and his handlers have repeatedly pushed a false narrative about his "tough" upbringing.

The story was immediately shot down by experts who know Newsom's past, and they held nothing back in exposing the truth.

What did he say?

The California governor tried to make it sound like he experienced the same struggles as presumably those listening to the podcast, in a weak and embarrassing attempt to match the audience.

"I was out there kind of raising myself…' he said on the podcast. "I was sitting there with the Wonder Bread… macaroni and cheese."

But according to Dan Walters, a columnist with CalMatters who has covered California politics for 50 years, Newsom's story is as fake as Kamala Harris' fake southern accent.

"He talks about his poor mother, working her fingers to the bone, as if he went barefoot to school,' said Walters, adding, "Yeah, barefoot to private school in Marin County."

Newsom critic Kevin Dalton, a political activist, also shot down the governor's fake childhood struggle stories.

"He's a chameleon and will bend and shapeshift and change colors, you know, whatever suits his current environment," Dalton told the outlet.

He added, "You can hear it with his speech, you can hear it with his stories. He's never once talked about eating Wonder Bread and mac and cheese, but all of a sudden he's in a room with a bunch of ex-NBA ballers and this stuff starts coming up. It's perfect."

The facts

While Newsom's childhood was described as "complicated," he definitely didn't experience poverty or lack of opportunity. His father was a well-connected San Francisco lawyer who later became a judge. He later became the lawyer for the Getty oil dynasty.

"He wasn't a latchkey kid scrambling for food," Walters said.

Democrats like Newsom will continue to tell as many lies as possible to garner support, and it's humiliating every single time.
