Government shutdown is exposing Obamacare for what it is: report

If something good is coming from the ongoing government shutdown, it is that it is exposing former President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act (ACA) for what it is.

This is according to a new report from Just the News.

The report exposes some of the "lies" about Obamacare. President Donald Trump recently made his position on the ACA known. Take a look:

"Inconvenient truths"

According to Just the News and its sources, the government shutdown is exposing the truth about Obamacare.

The outlet writes:

After years of Democrats telling the American people that former President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act (ACA) was a thriving system, the glaring truth revealed now during the government shutdown is that not only has the ACA resulted in widespread fraud and allegations of kickbacks to insurance companies, the American people are footing the bill for subsidies to hide the fact that Obamacare is broken.

There's more.

The outlet adds:

President Barack Obama repeatedly promised Americans during the rollout of the ACA — commonly known as Obamacare — that "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor," a claim intended to reassure Americans about the ACA's impact on existing healthcare arrangements. However, millions of people lost access to their preferred and established physicians due to narrowed insurance networks and cancellations of plans which did not comply with the law's new requirements, leading even left-leaning PolitiFact to name it the "Lie of the Year" in 2013.

Just the News is only scratching the surface here.

Background

Obamacare has taken center stage amid the government shutdown. This is because lawmakers have been unable to reach an agreement about whether or not to extend Obamacare subsidies.

Fox News reported:

Obamacare, formally called the Affordable Care Act (ACA), has emerged as one of the main flash points in the ongoing fiscal standoff between Republicans and Democrats. . . Obamacare subsidies were enhanced under the Biden administration in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic in a bid to make healthcare more available to a wider swath of Americans. Democrats voted to extend those subsidies through 2025 in 2022 via the Inflation Reduction Act.

Fox adds, "Democrats are now pushing to extend those subsidies now, using the ongoing government shutdown as leverage to force Republicans to deal with the issue."

At the time of this writing, not much progress has been made.

President Trump recently said, "Obamacare has turned out to be a disaster, as I have been saying for years."

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
