Hamas caught violating White House peace deal by faking return of a dead hostage
Earlier this month, both Israel and Hamas publicly embraced President Donald Trump's 20-point plan for peace in the Gaza Strip.
However, Israel recently launched airstrikes in Gaza after accusing Hamas of faking the return of a dead hostage.
Only 15 of 28 bodies have been returned
As Breitbart recalled, one provision of the White House-back agreement required Hamas to return all of those who were kidnapped during the October 7 terror attack.
While the website noted that this requirement also extended to the remains of 28 deceased hostages, only 15 bodies have thus far been handed over.
That fact brought criticism from the president, who wrote in a Truth Social post that "Hamas is going to have to start returning the bodies of the deceased hostages, including two Americans, quickly, or the other Countries involved in this GREAT PEACE will take action."
"Some of the bodies are hard to reach, but others they can return now and, for some reason, they are not. Perhaps it has to do with their disarming, but when I said, “Both sides would be treated fairly,” that only applies if they comply with their obligations," he added.
Israeli soldier killed in attack, Gazans shot by Hamas
The Times of Israel reported on Tuesday that Hamas returned human remains which belonged to another deceased hostage who had already been handed over.
That determination was arrived at by forensic identification experts who examined the remains at the Abu Kabir forensic institute in Tel Aviv.
This was not Israel's only grievance, as an Israeli soldier was also killed on Tuesday. The killing came roughly a week after three other Israeli soldiers were attacked in southern Gaza.
Meanwhile, Hamas has also drawn criticism for publicly executing Gazan dissidents after Israel halted its military operations.
CNN carried images of eight people being fatally shot while on their knees in the al Sabra neighborhood in western Gaza City.
State Department warned Hamas over planned attack on civilians
For its part, the U.S. State Department warned Hamas on October 18 over "credible reports" of a planned attack on civilians in Gaza.
The United States has informed the guarantor nations of the Gaza peace agreement of credible reports indicating an imminent ceasefire violation by Hamas against the people of Gaza.

"This planned attack against Palestinian civilians would constitute a direct and grave violation of the ceasefire agreement and undermine the significant progress achieved through mediation efforts," it wrote in a social media post.
