Harris claims she will shoot anyone who attempts to break into her house

Vice President Kamala Harris is now trying to claim that not only is she a gun owner but she will shoot anyone who attempts to break into her home.

According to Just the News, Harris, the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, made the claim during a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Suffice it to say that this has raised many eyebrows, especially given the fact that Harris has been one of the most vocal supporters of even the most stringent gun control laws.

Critics claim that Harris's comments, during her Winfrey interview, are just the vice president's latest desperate attempt to win over some voters.

The details

The interview of Harris, conducted by Winfrey, was more of a town hall-type event. It took place on Thursday evening.

At one point during the event, Winfrey said that she was surprised to learn that Harris was a gun owner.

In case you missed it, Harris made the claim during the recently-held presidential debate with former President Donald Trump. There, in response to the claim that she supports taking away guns from Americans, she said:

This business about taking everyone's guns away, Tim Walz and I are both gun owners. We're not taking anybody's guns away.

It was in response to Winfrey's prompt that Harris suggested that she is not afraid to use her gun.

"If somebody breaks into my house, they're getting shot, sorry," she said. After Winfrey replied, "I hear that," Harris added, "I probably should not have said that, but my staff will deal with that later."

It was "a joke"

Now, Keisha Lance Bottoms - a senior adviser of the Harris-Walz campaign - is trying to claim that Harris was merely joking about all of this.

Bottoms said:

Well, she was joking. And, obviously, the Vice President has given multiple interviews and she knows that every single thing that she says will be picked apart. So, it was a joke, and she knew that we would still be talking about it today, but I think it’s important that people know that the Vice President respects the right to bear arms, that she supports the 2nd Amendment, but she wants responsible gun ownership and she wants our communities to be safe. So, it was a joke that we’re still talking about today. But, again, I think it humanizes the Vice President.

It is now up to each and every one of us to decide for ourselves whether or not Harris was joking.

The overriding question is whether Harris is being sincere or whether she is simply saying anything to get elected.

Hopefully, we never learn the answer to this question.
