Harris delivers more word salad about 'duality of democracy' in Pennsylvania

Kamala Harris had a rare unscripted moment while campaigning in Pennsylvania on Sunday - and gave voters a reminder of why she's avoiding the media like the plague.

The Democratic presidential nominee brought back her notorious "word salad" with a perplexing speech about the "duality of democracy."

More Harris word salad

As Harris explained, democracy is "incredibly strong" and yet "incredibly fragile."

“As a democracy, we know there’s a duality to the nature of democracy. On the one hand, incredible strength when it is intact, what it does for its people, to protect and defend their rights,” she said.

“Incredibly strong — and incredibly fragile,” she added. “It is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it. And that’s what this campaign is about.”

Prior to being "reintroduced" to voters last month, Harris was notorious for spewing nonsensical "word salad" on such themes as "the passage of time."

Scripted "joy"

Harris has shunned the media since launching her 2024 campaign, opting instead to ride a wave of fawning press coverage that emphasizes her "joy."

In her few unscripted comments to reporters, Harris has displayed her infamous rhetorical ineptitude, leading to mockery from Republican rival Donald Trump as he blasts Harris for ducking public scrutiny.

Not ready for the job

Harris provided more word salad Monday when challenged to explain how she will play for her expensive economic promises - which she has only begun to release piecemeal after criticism of her spare policy platform.

The vice president gave a characteristically circuitous answer, repeating the phrase "return on investment" several times.

"She can't answer basic questions about how she plans to pay for her agenda. This is not a person ready to be President of the United States," Trump's running mate J.D. Vance mocked.

In another recent gaffe, Harris expounded on the importance of diplomacy.

“This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy,” Harris said.

Harris will deliver a speech Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention, where she will be formally nominated despite never receiving a primary vote.
