Harris offers up a word salad in first remarks since becoming Dems' presidential nominee
Vice President Kamala Harris just gave us a preview of what her presidency would look like.
The short answer is that we ought to expect a lot of "word salads."
Fox News reports, "Vice President Kamala Harris became the target of Republican ridicule again Friday after delivering rambling and repetitive remarks on the U.S. prisoner exchange with Russia."
This was the exchange that the Biden administration did with Russia, the one that freed Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and Marine Corps veteran Paul Whelan.
Harris bombs
This was the first opportunity that Harris got - since becoming the Democratic Party's presidential nominee - to do something presidential. And, it is not unfair to say that she blew it.
"This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy and strengthening alliances," she said.
This should not have really come as a surprise to anyone. Harris has become known for these types of statements.
In 2022, for example, she said this:
We were … talking about the significance of the passage of time. Right? The significance of the passage of time. So, when you think about it, there is great significance to the passage of time in terms of what we need to do to lay these wires, what we need to do to create these jobs. And there is such great significance to the passage of time when we think about a day in the life of our children and what that means to the future of our nation, depending on whether or not they have the resources they need to achieve their God-given talent.
Suffice it to say that Harris has become the butt of many jokes.
"It's amazing"
Among others, U.S. Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) has weighed in on the situation. Vance, of course, is former President Donald Trump's running mate in the 2024 presidential election.
Vance said, "It's amazing that journalists can look themselves in the mirror while letting this person coast to a major party nomination for president. Is anyone going to ask this person a question?"
Fox reports, "Harris has not held a press conference in the nearly two-week span since she became the presumptive Democratic nominee upon Biden’s decision not to continue his reelection bid."
Trump and his team have claimed that the Democrats are hiding Harris from Americans in order to cover up her problems.
It appears, however, that she will not be able to hide forever. Harris and Trump have agreed to a debate that is scheduled for early September.
