Vice President Kamala Harris has recently promised to secure the border, even going so far as to support construction of a wall despite previously mocking the idea.

However, critics say the evidence suggests her pledge is empty. The latest example came this week with the arrest of gang members whom the Biden administration had previously released.

Four illegal aliens arrested in connection with shooting

According to Fox News, four illegal migrants were arrested in Aurora Colorado over a shooting earlier this summer at Nome Street Apartments.

The housing complex was overtaken by members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, leading to viral videos circulating on social media.

The arrested individuals were identified as Jhonnarty Dejesus Pacheco-Chirinos, Jhonardy Jose Pacheco-Chirinos, Nixon Jose Azuaje Perez, and Dixon Jose Azuaje Perez.

"We can now confirm that [Jhonnarty Dejesus Pacheco-Chirinos] is a documented member of Tren de Aragua (TdA). He is the brother of Jhonardy Jose Pacheco-Chirinos, also known as 'Cookie' or 'Galleta," the Aurora Police Department was quoted as saying in a statement.

All four were given notices to appear by Border Patrol

"Additionally, two others who were arrested on that same day are suspected gang members. Their names are Dixon Azuaje-Perez, age 20, and Nixon Azuaje-Perez, age 19.

Both were arrested for tampering with evidence in the July 28 shooting on Nome Street. These two have gang ties and are suspected to be members of TdA," said the Aurora Police Department.

Meanwhile, an ICE spokesperson confirmed to Fox News that all four men illegally crossed the border into Texas between 2022 and 2023.

The spokesperson explained that Jhonardy Jose Pacheco-Chirinos or "Cookie" was picked up by Border Patrol Agents in the Del Rio Sector, Texas in October 2022.

However, the accused criminal was ultimately set free after being given a notice to appear. He now faces multiple felony charges, including one count of assault with a deadly weapon.

City council member blames "failure of the Biden administration"

Jhonnarty Dejesus Pacheco-Chirinos was also released by Border Patrol agents, as were Nixon and Dixon Azuaje-Perez.

News of the arrests brought outrage from Aurora City council member Danielle Jurinsky, who lashed out at the White House in a statement to Fox News.

"Thanks to the failure of the Biden administration to secure the border, the people of Aurora and other Americans have suffered at the hands of the Tren de Aragua gang," she said.
