Harris staffer sought Republican judge list to swear her in if Biden died in office
According to a new book published Tuesday, the communications director for former Vice President Kamala Harris compiled a "death-pool roster" of Republican-appointed judges to swear her in if then-President Joe Biden died while in office.
According to "Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House," Jamal Simmons had an entire strategy set to go in the event of Biden's death because he feared Harris wouldn't be accepted as a legitimate successor.
"Simmons believed Harris would be strengthened by an institutional stamp of approval if she were sworn in hurriedly because Biden had died unexpectedly," authors Jonathan Allen of NBC News and Amie Parnes of the Hill wrote. "Her legitimacy might be questioned, he worried, recalling the January 6 effort to stop Biden from being certified as president."
Simmons had an entire spreadsheet of Republican, non-Trump-appointed judges who could swear Harris in, and he carried it with him whenever the team traveled with Harris, the book described.
Harris didn't know
Harris never knew about the roster, and after Simmons left the administration in 2023, he told his successor to call him if anything ever happened to Biden so he could implement the strategy.
The specific judges on the list were not named in the book.
Ultimately, Biden did make it through his entire term, so the strategy was never needed.
With Biden looking frail and at over 80 years old, though, it was probably a smart thing to have prepared.
Obama's doubts
After losing to President Donald Trump in the 2024 election and leaving office in January with Biden, Harris moved on to a speaking gig with CAA speakers.
Amazingly, she's now getting paid big bucks to spew her word salad all over the place. It's kind of scary that such failure could be rewarded in that way.
The book also gave details about Barack Obama's reluctance to back Harris when Biden stepped down from his re-election bid after a disastrous debate revealed the true extent of his mental decline.
Harris was reportedly frustrated that Obama doubted she could beat Trump, even though he turned out to be 100% correct in his assessment.
That's the problem with the liberal bubble--Harris actually thinks she's something great because her media cronies, Hollywood sycophants, and her staff all pretended she was even though the rest of the world could see the truth.
For those who want those kinds of behind the scenes details, the book will be a great read even if it all seems entirely predictable at this point.
