The Democrat party has been in an uproar since the first presidential debate that ended with horrible reviews for President Joe Biden.

However, few have been in more turmoil than Vice President Kamala Harris, who likely considered herself to be second in line for the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office.

According to recent polling shared by The Washington Times, Harris isn't even close to the most likely candidate to beat former President Donald Trump, should Biden drop out.

The Data

Harris, often thought of as the next in line for Democrats, can't seem to perform as well as four other Democratic alternatives in matchups in key battleground states.

A memo from a Democratic-funded polling group, BlueLabs Analytics, asserts that Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer all outperform Harris in a potential head to head match.

Particular attention was paid to them since they were able to maintain a five-point advantage against Biden in each of the battleground states in which Trump was competing.

Of the other 10 other candidates besides Biden, the report asserts that "nearly every tested Democrat performs better than the president."

More Bad News

According to the document, Harris, whose name has been widely disseminated as a potential backup candidate, performed better than Biden against Trump, but she did not perform as well as the four other choices.

In terms of performance, the pollsters stated that Harris was "behind the average [Democratic] alternative."

“Voters are looking for a fresh face,” the memo stated. “Those more closely tied to the current administration perform relatively worse than other tested candidates.”

Over the course of seven swing states (Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania), the group polled 15,000 people between July 5 and July 12, just over a week following Joe Biden's embarrassing debate performance, which caused Democrats to lose faith in him.

Additional Info

According to the email from BlueLabs Analytics,  Trump is "leading the presidential race comfortably" in states that are considered to be battlegrounds following the debate on June 27.

In elections against Trump in pivotal swing state races, the document indicated that alternative Democratic candidates beat Biden by an average of three points.

The memo stated that, in the event that Joe Biden were to withdraw from the race, the party should select "the best nominee no matter who" according to a two-to-one vote of the voters.
