Previously hidden report reveals FBI had 274 plainclothes agents embedded in Jan. 6 Capitol riot crowd
It has long been theorized by some that federal agents were present at, participated in, and may even have subversively instigated the lawlessness and unrest at the Jan. 6 Capitol riot of 2021, and shocking evidence that appears to support that theory was just publicly reported.
It was revealed this week that the FBI had deployed 274 plainclothes agents into the crowd on Jan. 6, 2021, and that revelation sparked a furious outburst from President Donald Trump, according to Breitbart.
The main focus of Trump's ire was former FBI Director Christopher Wray, who has repeatedly refused over the past few years to divulge to Congress and the American people the full extent of the Bureau's presence and activities on that fateful day.
Trump is furious
"It was just revealed that the FBI had secretly placed, against all Rules, Regulations, Protocols, and Standards, 274 FBI Agents into the Crowd just prior to, and during, the January 6th Hoax," President Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Saturday. "This is different from what Director Christopher Wray stated, over and over again!"
"That’s right, as it now turns out, FBI Agents were at, and in, the January 6th Protest, probably acting as Agitators and Insurrectionists, but certainly not as 'Law Enforcement Officials,'" he continued. "I want to know who each and every one of these so-called 'Agents' are, and what they were up to on that now 'Historic' Day."
"Many Great American Patriots were made to pay a very big price only for the love of their Country," Trump acknowledged of the troubles his supporters had faced. "I owe this investigation of 'Dirty Cops and Crooked Politicians' to them!"
"Christopher Wray, the then Director of the FBI, has some major explaining to do. That’s two in a row, Comey and Wray, who got caught LYING, with our Great Country at stake," he added with a reference to ex-FBI Director James Comey, who was just indicted this week for providing false statements to Congress. "WE CAN NEVER LET THIS HAPPEN TO AMERICA AGAIN!"
Why wasn't this previously acknowledged by Wray?
Just the News reported this week on the recent discovery of an FBI after-action report on the Jan. 6 Capitol riot that, until now, was kept secret from Congress and the public, which detailed multiple complaints from numerous agents, many from the Bureau's Washington Field Office, who'd been deployed into the crowd of pro-Trump protesters.
Many of the complaints centered on the lack of protective gear, crowd control training, or ways to distinguish themselves as agents to other law enforcement officers for the deployed agents, and many complaints also highlighted the hyper-partisan nature of the Bureau's crackdown on the Capitol riot in comparison to lax response to the nationwide series of Black Lives Matter protests and riots in the summer of 2020.
The report, which was turned over to Congress by Director Kash Patel's office, revealed for the first time ever that, as some have long suspected, the FBI had a total of 274 plainclothes agents embedded in the Jan. 6 crowd.
Previously, it had only been revealed by an Inspector General's report that the FBI had deployed roughly two dozen undercover informants, or confidential human sources, into the crowd of protesters at the Capitol building.
Indeed, in multiple appearances before congressional committees in both the House and Senate, former Director Wray repeatedly refused even to confirm that FBI agents had been present at the Capitol riot, much less to divulge their numbers or the purpose for their being there.
Metro PD also had undercover officers inciting the crowd
TheBlaze separately confirmed through its congressional sources the recent revelation of the total number of plainclothes FBI agents who were in the crowd of protesters at the Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021, though at least one source expressed their lack of surprise, given the Bureau's tendency to embed agents in the crowds at large events to conduct countersurveillance.
Notably, this revelation follows an acknowledgement from the Metropolitan Police Department that it had dozens of undercover officers embedded in the crowd, some of whom acted to incite the unrest by helping protesters get around or over barricades, as well as to encourage entry into the building and vandalism of government property.
