Homan taunt AOC with promise to prosecute Rep. McIver
New Jersey Representative LaMonica McIver, who now faces charges after allegedly assaulting Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers during a protest, is potentially in a heap of legal trouble.
According to reports, Border Czar Tom Homan made it crystal clear during a recent Fox News interview that the government will unapologetically prosecute McIver for her alleged actions.
The promise to follow through with the prosecution comes even as high-profile Democrats dare the Trump administration to go through with such actions.
Homan provided the bombshell update on the situation during an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham.
What's going on?
McIver found herself in hot legal water after she and a group of Democratic lawmakers protested an ICE facility and reportedly got too rowdy and dramatic.
She faces charges include "assaulting, impeding, and interfering with law enforcement," all of which are serious crimes.
Specifically, McIver's alleged crimes took place when she tried to interfere with the arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka during the encounter at the ICE facility.
For his part, Homan taunted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) over her recent threats against him and others who attempt to prosecute McIver.
"Well, remember, just a couple weeks ago AOC went on social media saying if we put a finger on any of her co-workers, uh, congresspeople, that were at our York facility, there would be consequences," Homan stated. "Well, guess what? We did it. I’m waiting on the consequences."
The reports noted:
Ocasio-Cortez had previously issued a stern warning in an Instagram video, stating, "If anyone’s breaking the law in this situation, it’s not members of Congress, it’s the Department of Homeland Security. It’s people like Tom Homan..." She added, "You lay a finger on someone... or any of the representatives that were there, you lay a finger on them, we are going to have a problem."
There's more
Homan was also presumably taking a shot at House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who issued a stark warning to the Trump administration over the potential prosecution of McIver.
"It’s a red line. They know better than to go down that road," Jeffries said recently.
So far, and as usual, Democrats are proving they're all talk.
Homan clearly doesn't appear the least bit worried.
